2019 Classical Discovery Concert: The Classical Symphony
Share extraordinary music in the first of our new series of Discovery Concerts.
For some, the term ‘classical’ speaks of formality and elitism, but this age old artform is arguably the most influential and accessible music genre in the world. From film scores to commercials and video games to the opening of major sporting events, classical music provides the soundscape to all of our lives, right now.
Join us on a new musical adventure of insight and entertaining narrative as we go back to where classical music all began, with the “Father of the Symphony”, Joseph Haydn, his illustrious successor, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and the maverick of the bunch, Ludwig van Beethoven.
Here, our Principal Conductor, Artistic Advisor and all round raconteur Asher Fisch presents WASO in a new light, with excerpts, demonstrations and insights. We’ll journey through the classical era and discover how it has paved the way for the symphonic music of today.
