1200°C by Stephen Glassborow

This event has passed!
Internationally renowned for his exploration of the bronze medium, Stephen Glassborow is set to showcase his latest exhibition ‘1200ºC’ at Linton & Kay Galleries Perth from October 15-29. As a contemporary figurative realist sculptor, working mainly in bronze, Stephen is concerned primarily with exploring the interplay between figuration and abstraction. In this most recent body of work, two-dimensional images have been deconstructed before being reinterpreted in three-dimensional bronze forms following Stephen’s interest in re-evaluating the way realism can be dealt with. The exhibition comes at an exciting time as Stephen is already pressing ahead with his next project; a commissioned piece celebrating former WBC featherweight champion boxer Johnny Famechon. This sculpture is reminiscent of his three metre bronze of Lionel Rose. Fellow bronze artist and sculptor, Greg James, will give an opening speech at ‘1200°C’ , which shows at Linton and Kay Galleries from the 15th to the 29th October.
