“SHIFT” ART EXHIBITION AT MEZZANINE GALLERY
The newest exhibition from Darlington’s Mezzanine Gallery Inc. is inspired by the concept of relocation.
The exhibition, titled Shift, will showcase the works of a number of Western Australian artists and will open on Friday 17 October, 2014.
Artists who have had exhibitions with Mezzanine Gallery were asked to create works in response to the concept of ‘Shift’. The idea of Shift as related to relocation and unfamiliarity, involving the person who shifts, the people who are left, and how we welcome newcomers.
The aim of Shift is to create powerful art and dialogue around relocation – geographical, emotional, point-of-view, ability – and human responses to this change.
The exhibition will include the works of Una Bell, Alastair Taylor, Angus Skene, Graziano Piras, and Daniel Oxenburgh, and is timed to coincide with Darlington’s famous Arts Festival in early November.
Mezzanine Gallery invites people who have made major shifts in their lives to experience this exhibition, and will host a number of visitors who have recently arrived in Australia.
Shift will be open each day from October 18 and throughout November at Gallery 2, 2 Montrose Avenue, Darlington.
