The GO3 Electronic Entertainment Expo is held on 30 and 31 March and 1 April 2007 at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.
It will feature the latest in games, hobbies, communication, technologies and electronic entertainment. The Expo is open to the public from 9 to 5 on Saturday and Sunday, and entry is $18 per day for adults, $15 for students and $12 for children (6 to 14).
In addition to the Expo, there will be a 2 day conference (early bird ticket prices end 15 February), a massive LAN party (over 600 people) and the Nullabor Demoparty and game development competition.
GO3 is a huge event for gamers and the like in Australia, and is also seen as the southern hemisphere hub for the world’s leading electronic entertainment companies.
Keep an eye on the GO3 PerthNorg blog and the OneTwenty Events blog for news about the expo and conference.
Tickets for the Expo, LAN party and welcome party are available through BOCS. Early bird tickets for the conference are available until 15 February on the GO3 website.
A few more random links to what others are posting about Perth….
BusyBee from PerthNorg went to the opening night of Rally Australia at Gloucester Park on Thursday 26 October 2006.
The Daily Magnet has written a post ‘A thing of the past‘, 10 things she hates and 10 things she’ll miss about Rally Australia.
And Matt Jelonek has some great photo’s up on his site from the Rally.
BusyBee and This Perth Life write about Billy Joel rocking out Burswood Dome on Tuesday 7 November 2006.
Claire from This Perth Life also writes about the Turning on of the christmas lights in the city on Friday night (the 10th).
For other Christmas Festival activities in the city, read my post here.
Some links to give you an idea what other sites (usually blogs) have written about in relation to events happening in Perth!
Kay went to see Swedish metal band Arch Enemy at Club Capitol on Tuesday 17 October.
PerthNow has got a review of the Live gig at Challenge Stadium on Tuesday 24 October 2006.
Paul from fremantlebiz writes about his visit to Burswood Casino, and his daughters account of Coca-Cola Live n Local at Burswood Casino last night (Wednesday 25 October 2006). Paul writes daily about all sorts of things, from home life, to places he visits in and around Fremantle to historic events.
Let me know if you know of anything I should be linking to!
This post is long overdue (the laptop crashed at one stage!), so I’ll keep it simple but effective:
Kay went and saw the Screaming Jets play in Joondalup, about two weeks ago now!
The Food Pornographer and BusyBee went to see the Dixie Chicks perform at Burwood on Friday the 13th.
Al and Kay (yes, again) and others went to see the Screaming Jets in Gosnells on Sunday 15 October.
Telethon raises $3.2 million on the weekend, and PerthNow has a whole run down of happenings, I recommend starting at the bottom! Another report here.
Seeing as there’s no way I can attend all the events I write about (I’d be broke, exhausted, our dog would disown me and my house and garden would be a mess!!), I thought it might be a good idea to link to some posts other Perth bloggers have done about things they did! Will try and make this a regular thing! And I still need to catch up on some things we did recently too!
First up is Mooiness, who went to Godskitchen at Metro City last Friday. He regularly blogs about the club events he goes to.
TFP (The Food Pornographer) went to the Perth Royal Show last Saturday, and has a great series of posts with photos, including a general overview, the animals and the food. Obviously food is the main focus of her blog, whether it’s a home cooked meal, a Hungry Jacks breakfast, or dinner at the Witches Cauldron in Subi.
Kilee, who blogs at Minti, visited the Royal Show on Monday with her husband and 2 yo daughter.
Nick went to see The Mikado at the Regal Theatre last week.
Graeme Watson attended the opening of an exhibition at the John Curtin Gallery. There are three exhibitions on until 8 December: ‘Chart’, ‘Western Edge’ and ‘David Sequeira: Eternal Rhythms selected works 1996 – 2006′. The first two are the ones Graeme talks about, and both are part of ‘Australia on the Map 1606-2006‘.
Deanne from Temporal Island posts about visiting the Kamberang Festival at City Farm today.
Let me know if I’ve missed something good, and if you want to be included in future link posts you may need to let me know about your post! I was trying to keep up with all the Perth blogs I could find, but I’ve given up, there’s too many out there! About 100 is enough in my feed reader!
I recently discovered Zonk Magazine, an online magazine/blog/podcast that is ‘for the mindful young people of Perth who enjoy things with a slightly subversive specialness.’
In my own words (which usually aren’t that great), I guess I’d call it ‘arty’ (in a good way!). They fill a great gap that I’m not really covering, and have nice photos and design. You can subscribe to their email newsletter and you will recieve the monthly issues, which are also available on the website. They’ve also got a blog, which unfortunately doesn’t have a rss feed, or comments, but is nice to keep an eye on.
On Thursday 28 September 06 they’re having an official launch party at Gilkison’s Dance Studio featuring a number of bands and dj’s. More details in their blog (scroll down).
Zonk Magazine
PerthNorg is a local citizen journalism site, which means you can help write the news, leave comments, and vote on articles, which will move them up and down the page.
Topics that are being written about include news, sport, business, entertainment, technology and lifestyle.
There are also some blogs on PerthNorg. Perth Music has moved there, there is a gossip blog called Busybee (which I have heard will feature more local gossip in the future!), and Matt from Abstract Gourmet writes about restaurants and recipes.
By the way, Norg stands for ‘News Organisation’.
It’s only been online for a few weeks now, but is already growing quickly. With YOUR help (reading, voting, writing, linking and commenting) it will only become better and better!
With the school holidays coming up, I was seeing so many school holiday activities, that I thought it would probably warrant starting up a second blog just for events and activities for kids.
So for the last week or so I’ve been busy setting up Kids Enjoy Perth, just in time for the school holidays. Most activities start on Monday, and ones that don’t start until next week will be posted during the week.
Let me know what you think and if it is useful for you!
Matt from Abstract Gourmet has done a nice review of his visit to the WA Wine & Food Festival, including photos. Read his post here.
You’ll love his blog if you’re into food and/or are a coffee geek! He posts recipes with photos, and has done a few reviews on Perth restaurants and cafes.
Another Perth foodie blog: spiceblog Anthony is also involved in the new WA food magazine, Spice Magazine. I have just seen that that is a weblog too!
EDIT: Just bumped into another food blog, The Food Pornographer (no actual porn as far as I can see 😉 ).
And of course there is also Jennifer’s Chocolate and Espresso Tour.
I’m not going to mention other good food blogs outside of WA, but if you want more, check out the links on the above blogs! Or try a blog search engine like gnoos or australianblogs.com.au.
I have never been in one, but I hear they have a very large amount of books and dvds, and a cafe.
It will be interesting to see how it affects other bookshops in Perth, but apparently the Brisbane one didn’t make the commercials (Dymocks, Angus & Robertson) or the independants close up. It still could have affected them of course.

Update: It has opened this morning, and the above blog checked it out, and has posted photo’s, check it out here!
