Supergrass have announced sideshows to their ‘The Great Escapeâ show, and will be playing in Fremantle at Metropolis on Wednesday 8 October 2008.
During the 90âs Britpop era, this motley crew of cheeky youngsters typified the upbeat and positive mood of a nation who just wanted a damn good party. With their mad hair, massive sideburns and wild, crazy, running-along-the-beach-without-a-care-in-the-world type antics, Supergrass were the band of choice for the kids.
Diamond Hoo-Ha is their sixth studio album and is the band at their exhuberant best. Itâs an album of raucous rock ‘n roll songs that are glitzy and glam as they are punchy and gritty. With simmering verses, taut rhythms and flirtatious bass lines, this is effortless cool and in the words of NME “definitely worth making a hoo-ha over”.
Special guests: The Panda Band.
18+ gig.
Tickets on sale 14 August from Heatseeker, Mills Fremantle, Planet Mt Lawley and Star Surf Perth.

Slipknot return to Australia for their All Hope is Gone 2008 world tour, their first visit since they stormed the main stages at the 2005 Big Day Out.
Itâs happening at Robinson Pavilion on Thursday 30 October 2008, and Machine Head are the support.
At the turn of the millennium, Slipknot erupted onto the heavy music scene and their first three albums reset the course of the Metal genre. Multi million selling, three albums have been released, all platinum. Their massive popularity was acknowledged when, after being nominated for the sixth time in The Grammys for Best Metal Performance, Slipknot won the coveted award in 2006 for the track âBefore I Forgetâ.
At their left hand will be the mighty Machine Head, pioneers of a brutal new sound Machine Headâs influential and ferocious debut Burn My Eyes was released in 1994. Several albums later Machine Head returned to the highest echelons of the metal world with the 2007 album The Blackening.
Tickets from BOCS Ticketing and 78 Records for around $90. On sale 9am 8 August.
Bliss N Eso return to Perth and perform at Capitol on Saturday 1 November 2008.
Since Bliss N Eso were last on the road, they have released the biggest album of their career, Flying Colours which has propelled the group into unchartered territory. The album debuted in the top 10 on the ARIA chart and, shortly after, the group caused a riot at one of the most infamous MySpace Secret Shows in the country and were announced on this yearâs Splendour in the Grass line-up. The anticipation for this tour has reached boiling point.
Supports: Phrase & Flagrant + Bentman & Sipn
Tickets on sale from 31 July from 78 Records, Ticketek and Moshtix for around $25 + booking fees.
Black Francis, frontman for The Pixies, will perform solo at Metropolis Fremantle on Sunday 28 September 2008.
This tour will see Black Francis perform in support of his two most recent releases; 2007âs Bluefinger and 2008âs mini-album Svn Fngrs. Boisterous and meticulous, Bluefinger and Svn Fngrs have announced to the world that Black Francisâ songwriting and performance skills are as potent as ever. Bluefinger â speculated to be the material originally ear-marked for the Pixiesâ new record – sees Black Francis at the top of his game. Dutch artist Herman Brood â the man widely considered to be the epitome of sex, drugs and rock ânâ roll – is heavily referenced through the album, continuing Black Francisâ penchant for expressing his unique take on the world.
Tickets are on sale Wednesday 30 July from Moshtix. I expect them to sell out.
Pre-sale tickets will be available from noon AEST Monday 28 July from Frontier Touring.
