Judas Priest, with the original line-up (Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing, Ian Hill & Scott Travis), head to Australia for the first time ever! They perform in Perth on Tuesday 16 September 2008 at Burswood Dome Challenge Stadium.
One of the world’s definitive heavy metal bands, who have sold more than 35 million albums world wide, will bring their mammoth PRIEST FEAST 2008 tour to Australian fans in September.
Judas Priest are a seminal and vital part of rock history. Since 1974, they have been one of heavy metal’s most successful bands, issuing such all-time classic albums as 1980’s British Steel, 1982’s Screaming for Vengeance, and 1990’s Painkiller, and such arena-rocking anthems as Breaking the Law, Living After Midnight, and You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’. However, Priest’s influence goes far beyond their music – they were the first metal band to embrace the ‘leather biker look,’ a fashion that has since become synonymous with the musical genre.

Newton Faulkner, who’s debut track “Dream Catch Me” has become the most played song on Australia radio, will perform at Capitol in Perth on Wednesday 3 September 2008.
A relative unknown in Australia just 3 months ago, talk of the dread-locked songman was rife following his stand out performances at the 19th Annual East Coast Blues and Roots Festival in Byron Bay last March.
Newton Faulkner is not your ordinary singer songwriter – as he sings, his old-soul voice dips from a gently enchanting croon to a commanding roar full of yearning and intensity. His playing surpasses sensitive strumming, using his guitar as a hybrid instrument combining fret board pyrotechnics, unusual picking techniques, altered tunings and a mesmerising percussive use of the guitar’s body.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday 5th June, from Moshtix and BOCS.
Dismember, a death metal band from Sweden, perform at Amplifier on Tuesday 15 July 2008.
Founded 1988 in Stockholm, Sweden, Dismember were among those responsible for Death Metal’s big breakthrough. The Classic Debut album, “Like An Ever Flowing Stream” from 1991, has resulted in their rise to ‘ CULT ‘ status ! After 20 Years of Unrelentless live performances and more classic album releases, Dismember is now back with their most crushing album to date!
The sheer pace and passion of the songs are blistering and the vocal sounds are as pissed off as ever. Powerful riffs that are not in short demand, plenty of lead works and memorable melodic harmonies are what the metal scene needed and Dismember have them in Huge Spades.
Support acts are Grotesque and Gallows For Grace.
Tickets on sale from Moshtix for $39 plus booking fee.

This morning Triple J announced that Death Cab For Cutie are touring Australia. They’ll perform at Metropolis in Fremantle on Wednesday 20 August 2008.
The indie-rock group from Seattle have just reached the # 1 spot on the US billboard album chart.
After spending much of 2006 in the midst of a turbulent tour cycle surrounding their platinum, Grammy-nominated album Plans, the band took a well-deserved break of sorts during the first part of 2007. Frontman Ben Gibbard embarked on his first-ever solo tour; guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Chris Walla released a solo album and produced records for acts like Tegan and Sara; drummer Jason McGerr constructed his own recording studio, Two Sticks; and bassist Nick Harmer, as always seems to be the case, worked on various projects.

The Wombats return to Australia for Splendour in the Grass, and play a side show at Capitol in Perth on Saturday 2 August 2008.
The Wombats have truly gone from strength to strength in 2008. Their ridiculously catchy single ‘Let’s Dance To Joy Division’ saw them secure the number 12 position in Triple J’s HOTTEST 100, their debut album ‘A Guide To Love Loss And Desperation’ became an anthemic summer album, and the band made their first trip to Australia in March for a sell out tour. Combine this with a 22-date sold out UK tour, rapturous crowds across Europe, Japan and the US, and their invitation to play one of Australia’s premier festivals, Splendour In The Grass, and you have a band well on the way to their own version of world domination.
Shihad are back with a new album, and will perform at Capitol on Saturday 30 August 2008.
Finally striking the a perfect balance between their power and groove, and their hereto threatened mastery of melody and lyric, Shihad’s Beautiful Machine may yet prove to be the band’s most accomplished recording to date. Recorded in Melbourne and mixed by master engineer Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Depeche Mode, U2, Smashing Pumpkins), Beautiful Machine is in store now.
Tickets are on sale from Heatseeker and Moshtix for $27 + booking fee.
