Perth Pride Parade Fair The Pride Festival is a month of events beginning with the City of Perth Pride Fairday on 30 September and concluding with the Pride Parade through the streets of Northbridge on 27 October 2007.

City of Perth Pride Fairday – Sunday 30 September – 10am to 6pm – Russel Square, Northbridge

Fairday is always the ideal start to Pride Month, with our entire community coming together to celebrate our Pride in a relaxed and festive setting that enables businesses, community groups and government agencies to interact through stalls and entertainment; live bands, cabaret singers, and dancers. Families can picnic on the lawn beneath the shade of the trees. There’s activities for the kids, and the Dog Show.

Pride Parade – Saturday 27 October – from 8pm – Northbridge

Perth’s first Pride Parade was held during the day in 1990 to protest against the oppression and discrimination that continued to be felt throughout our gay and lesbian community. Over the year’s, the Parade was transformed into a spectacular display of visibility and diversity and is now held at night to mark the end of October’s Pride festival.

For other events check out the Pride WA website, and download the festival guide!

The closing party (UNIVERSall) will be bigger than ever this year, at the Belmont Race Course from 10pm on 27 October, so after the Pride Parade. Tickets through Moshtix.

Perth Royal ShowIt’s spring, and time again for the Perth Royal Show!

This year it’s happening from Saturday 29 September to Saturday 6 October, as usual at the Claremont Showgrounds.
There’s too much going on to list, so I suggest you head over to the official website and check out all the details!!

There’s even a showbag guide you can search!

You can also download a map (pdf)

The Veronicas The Veronicas are touring Australia again and will perform in Perth at Burswood Theatre on Friday 30 November 2007. It’s an all ages show.

Hook Me Up, the debut single from their forthcoming album, has sent The Veronicas flying back into the public spotlight with a bang. Signalling a change for the band, Hook Me Up takes The Veronicas to a new level as they – quite convincingly – take on electro-pop. Steering the girls in a more mature direction, Hook Me Up sets the bar high for the hotly anticipated follow up record to their 2005 ARIA-award winning debut The Secret Life of…

Tickets are on sale Friday 5 October from Ticketek. ($54.40)

Venue: Burswood Theatre

Kelly ClarksonKelly Clarkson (American Idol winner from a few years ago) is touring Australia and will perform in Perth at Challenge Stadium on Saturday 1 March 2008.

Anticipation will be high for the March 08 concerts, given the extraordinary reaction to Kelly’s 2005 sold out concert tour, during which she overwhelmed everyone with the sheer force of her talent. On that tour Kelly was basking in the glow of the ‘Breakaway’ album, which spent an unprecedented 52 weeks in the ARIA Top Ten and was certified six times platinum. By project’s end, ‘Breakaway’ sold six million copies in the U.S., 11 million worldwide, won two Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, a People’s Choice Award & a staggering 11 Billboard Music Awards. But all that acclaim took its toll on her personal relationships, which is captured on her new album ‘My December’, and evidenced in the full throttle rock & roll aggression on songs like the first single, ‘Never Again’.

Tickets on sale from Ticketmaster ($87.80)

Damien LeithDamien Leith is touring for his ‘Where We Land’ album, and will perform at the Octagon Theatre at UWA on Saturday 24 November 2007.

Since winning Australian Idol in 2006 Damien Leith has become one of the most celebrated artists in Australia
The show will be a 2 hour performance of songs from Damien’s new album and some classic favourites like Crying, Un-Chained Melody and Message To My Girl.

Tickets on sale now from BOCS, $70
