ARTRAGETen Days on ARTRAGE is happening from 27 October to 5 November 2006 and will feature a spectacular program of sound, visual art, dance, theatre, film, quality arts and cultural interaction!
A highlight is ‘The Block’, a custom-made arts and cultural experience designed by ARTRAGE and constructed out of sea-containers in the centre of Northbridge which will have a diverse line-up of events. To name just a few treats, there is ’24 HOURS,’ where artists make theatre and films with a time limit of only 24 hours, and a ‘Pet Photo Booth,’ where owners can bring their beloved animals to have some quirky snaps taken. There is also the big, interactive sound toy that is ‘Audiosity’, and ‘Feuerwasser’, a poetic tempest of pure energy created by fire and water in the middle of the street.

The Bakery ARTRAGE Complex will be a late night Festival Club, and have musical entertainment from 9pm every night, dance and theatre performances.

Others events that will be happening include films at Cinema Paradiso, a fashion spectacular and a visual arts exhibition.

A big night of action is on Saturday 4 November, when there will be a Night Market, dance spectacle and more on the streets of Northbridge, for FREE!

The whole program is now the ARTRAGE website and it’s huge! A lot of the events are free or very cheap. The website is quite easy to navigate, but you can also download the program. And it’s also printed in the form of poster, but I don’t where to get it, I got mine from a friend! Keep an eye out for it, it’s got the photo above on one side of it.

Congrats to the West Coast Eagles for their grand final win!

The team will be returning to Perth tomorrow (Sunday) for a supporters day at Subiaco Oval from 2pm.

On Tuesday there will be a victory parade through the city from noon. Starting at The Esplanade they will end up at Forrest Place at around 12.20pm.

City FarmCity Farm in East Perth is a wonderful organic community garden, education and network centre, a green oasis in the city!

Before it was founded in 1994 by the youth branch of Men of the Trees, it was a scrap metal yard and battery recycling centre!

Every week from 8am to noon on Saturday there is an Organic Growers Market, where organic and biodynamic produce is sold by independant growers and vendors.
Throughout the year events are held at City Farm which often support the local music and art community.

The next event is the Kamberang Festival, held on Saturday 7 October 2006 from 8am to 4pm. This is a free event (though gold coin donations are very welcome), and celebrates the Nyoongar Spring. There will be live music performances, animals, a puppet show, and of course the weekly organic growers market until 1pm.

City Farm is situated in East Perth, next to Claisebrook Train Station. It is at the end of Lime Street. You can take the free Yellow CAT Bus from the city, which stops next to the door. There is also parking available.

Perth is getting another live comedy venue!

The North Fremantle Bowling Club is getting all spruced up as it begins its new life as Perth’s newest live comedy venue. With Ben Elton as Patron this new venture has a great pedigree and just needs your support.

The Comedy Lounge presents live comedy this Friday night, 29 September, from 8.30pm featuring Perth’s finest comedians. There are bar facitilities from 7.30pm, and bring a plate!
Tickets are $15/$12
North Fremantle Bowling Club, Stirling Highway, North Fremantle.

Bar 138On Friday evening we celebrated a friends birthday and watched the footy at BAR138 on Barrack St, Perth.

It’s situated behind the beautiful heritage listed Railway Hotel façade.

The bar itself is quite modern, specialises in Mediterranean cuisine (though we had wedges, which should come with more sourcream and sweet chilli than it did!) and is open from 7am for breakfast. It’s right in the city centre, so also good for after work drinks.

Anyway, I’m not one for reviews, I really just wanted to share the nice building with you! It’s amazing what nice old buildings you can discover in Perth when you pay a bit more attention (or look up!).

BAR138 On Barrack website

I read on their website that they’re hosting a Melbourne Cup Luncheon on 7 November, with the big race on a big screen.
