Footy at Subi Oval

2006 05 13 1009This evening we went to our first Aussie rules football game, between the West Coast Eagles and the Collingwood Magpies. A friend’s family have membership, and not all of them were going!
So at 5.30pm we were at Subiaco Oval, and had seats in Row 3!

It was an exciting game (and both teams are at the top of the ladder) but the Eagles won with 14 points. There were 42,000 people present, it was sold out.

It was a great experience (good atmosphere), and the first time we’ve been in Subiaco Oval.

Less fun was getting away. First walk to our car, which we’d parked on an empty lot in West Leederville, and then about 20 minutes in a traffic jam to get out of the suburb! But that’s what you can expect with so many people, in the middle of residential suburbs! Though a lot of people also took trains and busses. 42,000 people is just a lot!
