Multi ARIA Award winner Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu who performed to full houses at the recent PIAF will return to Perth to perform his full concert for the first time in Perth. This Arnhem Land man sings with a startling imagery about the beauty of a world he has never seen. Gurrumul will be backed by the highly regarded Erkki string quartet featuring 2008 ARIA nominee (producer of the year) Michael Hohnen on double bass, Francis Diatschenko on Spanish guitar and violinist Erkki Velheim.

Rhythms of Ireland is back in WA by popular demand. There will be a show at Perth Concert Hall on Friday 14 August 2009, Fremantle Town Hall on Saturday 15 August and Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on Sunday 16 August before heading into regional WA.

Air Supply with WASO

waso_air_supplyAir Supply perform with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra at the Perth Concert Hall on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May 2009.

The Australian group Air Supply have had hit singles in every decade since they formed in 1976. They return to Perth to perform these hits plus many more including All Out of Love, The One That You Love and Even The Nights Are Better in this spectacular concert event with WASO.

The Saturday show starts at 7.30pm and the Sunday (Mother’s Day show) starts at 3pm.

London Philharmonic Orchestra – 2+3 Oct 09

london_philharmonicThe London Philharmonic Orchestra perform at the Perth Concert Hall on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October 2009. There is a different program each day (see below).

Vladimir Jurowski joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra as Principal Conductor in September 2007 after a glittering career as guest at some of the world’s leading music institutions such as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Russian National Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera New York and a most successful tenure with the Glyndeborne Festival Opera.

Program One – Friday 2 October – soloist Vadim Repin
The repertoire for the concerts have been especially chosen for Australia: the first will open with Schumann’s dramatic and passionate Manfred Overture, followed by Bruch’s most famous work, the Violin Concerto. Bringing the evening to a close will be Brahms tour de force, Symphony No.1.

Program Two – Saturday 3 October – soloist Jean-Yves Thibaudet
The second program is no less spectacular, commencing with Rachmaninov’s symphonic poem Isle of the Dead, Ravel’s evocative and flamboyant jazz infused Concerto in G and concluding with Tchaikovsky’s towering and best loved symphony, Symphony No.4.
