Radiothon Opening Party 09

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

radiothon

Bring the Noise! Radiothon 2009 is upon us and this year RTRFM 92.1 intends to make it the biggest and best ‘thon of all time.

We are filling up The Leederville with three areas of rockin’ tunes, booty shaking beats, blistering band action and mad dj skillz.

On this year’s line up we have in the Funk Club Room: the new signing to London’s Freestyle Records Randa and the Soul Kingdom, Melbourne International Comedy Festival favourite Diggy Bones and the Tokens of Love, the heaviest groove-merchants in town The Funk Club House Band, Perth’s hardest funkster DJ Charlie Bucket and the master of mirth himself MC Diggy Bones on the microphones.

The Radiothon Room features doo-wop dance pop sensation Boom! Bap! Pow!, heroes of the surf and spaghetti western guitar Day of the Dead and the king of the keys the Johnny Nandez Hammond Explosion. Plus we have the heroes of many a Radiothon Opening Party Rockin’ Rhys and Jumpin’ Josh holding down the decks and acting as joint masters of ceremony.

Finally, in the Boogaloo Beer Garden, there is class DJ action aplenty. To get your ass a-moving we have one of Perth’s most successful ever DJ/Producers Drum ‘n Bass maestro Mr Greg Packer, Cardboard City’s wonder producers Assembly Line, on the mic and the ones-and-twos multiple WAMI award winner and Full Frequency Friday tastemaker Dan the Man. Plus two men with at least too arms and usually too much bass The Brothers Elliott and the master of the Boogaloo Special Lucas.

Art vs Science – 20 August 09

Friday, July 10th, 2009

art vs sci

“Following the announcement that festival favourites ART vs. SCIENCE have been added to the Splendour in The Grass and Parklife line-ups, the Sydney trio are set to embark on an extensive national tour of their own in August. The triple j Unearthed winners have built up an impressive fanbase over the past year, thanks in no small part to the stomping, party-starting tracks ‘Flippers’ and ‘Parlez-Vous Francais?’ and their show-stopping live act, which has seen them play to capacity crowds at gigs and festivals around the country (including Splendour, Good Vibes, Groovin the Moo and Come Together), earn laudatory reviews and debut in the top 10 of the i-Tunes album chart with their self-titled debut EP (out now through MGM).”
