Cog and Oceansize – 4 June 09

cogCog return to Perth on Thursday 4 June  2009 and perform at Metropolis in Fremantle.

Cog’s powerful live shows have been wowing fans for the past few years, earning them spots on the country’s biggest festivals, including the recent Big Day Out tour, and leaving a trail of sold out venues in their wake. The Between Oceans tour will be the band’s last round before they take time out to pull together material for their third LP.

Manchester’s kings of post-metal, Oceansize will make their maiden voyage to Australia to join Cog on this tour.
Melbourne three piece Calling All Cars  will open the show.

Eagles of Death Metal – 28 April 09

The Eagles of Death Metal return to Australia and this time also perform in Perth, on 28 April 2009 at Metropolis in Fremantle.

In 2004, Eagles of Death Metal launched their wholesome good-graciousness with “Peace, Love, and Death Metal,” followed in 2006, with the diabolical “Death By Sexy”. On October 28, 2008 EODM unleash “Heart On”. Speculators are speculating that the DREAM BOY DUO of dance’ and prance will bring home Olympic Album Gold once again. The EODM formula for fantastic is, humm, let’s see…that’s one part Jesse “Boots Electric” Hughes, one part Joshua “Babyduck” Homme stirred and served chillllled in a tall glass of class…It goes down smooth every time.

Sneaky Sound System play at Metropolis in Fremantle on Tuesday 19 May and Metro City in Perth on Wednesday 20 May 2009.

After a hugely successful tour with the Big Day Out in January, Sneaky Sound System is pleased to announce dates for their own national headline tour: POPTRONICA. Before they jump aboard the Poptronica bus, March will see Miss Connie, Blac Angus and Double D head back overseas to support the international release of their singles ‘I Love It’ and ‘UFO’, with shows confirmed for London, New York and Miami. The past 12 months have seen Sneaky Sound System tour with their full live band, selling out shows around the country and overseas. The Poptronica Tour sees the band return to doing what they love best – playing the clubs.

Cold War Kids – 2 February 2009

Cold War KidsCold War Kids return to Australia and perform at Metropolis Fremantle on Monday 2 February 2009.

Nathan Willett (lead vocals, piano, guitar), Jonnie Russell (guitar, vocals, percussion), Matt Maust (bass guitar), and Matt Aveiro (drums) formed in 2004 and released their debut album Robbers & Cowards in 2006.
The album won Australian fans & radio over with singles such as ‘Hang Me Out To Dry’ and ‘Hospital Beds’. With multiple songs in triple j’s Hottest 100 and sell-out tours in Australia (including Splendour In The Grass) and across the world, Cold War Kids released sophomore album Loyalty to Loyalty in 2008. It became the group’s first Australian Top 20 album, and featured singles ‘Something Is Not Right With Me’ and ‘Mexican Dogs’ which both received high rotation on triple j.
Their music is said to be heavily inspired by artists such as Jeff Buckley, Bob Dylan and Velvet Underground.

Michael Franti returns to Australia with his band Spearhead, and performs on Thursday 23 October 2008 at Metropolis in Fremantle.

Californian-born poet, musician and composer, Franti blends hip hop, funk and reggae together with his outspoken political and progressive lyrics and has gone on to become renowned as not only a worldwide million-selling recording artist, but also a leader in the peace and social justice movement. Franti continues to influence people with his speaking engagements at Universities, panels at W.H.O./U.N. in Geneva and his work with organisations such as Oxfam and Amnesty International. Most notably is the international message and expansion of Franti’s own ‘Power to the Peaceful’ festival which has drawn more than 50,000 people for one day to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco annually for the last 9 years.
