Pez – August 09

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Pez is having his first national headline tour throughout August and September and will hit 4 venues in Perth in late-August.

“Pez is not like other hip-hop artists – that much is instantly obvious. With his long hair, laid-back nature and ever-present smile, the 25-year-old Melburnian instantly distinguishes himself from other artists of the genre with his lack of pretence and genuine demeanour. But once his music – rich with soul-searching honesty, gritty melody and traditional hip-hop ethics – is heard, the distinction is clear. Pez breathes new meaning into the word “real”, in a genre seemingly obsessed with reality but often far removed from it.”

Jeff Martin has a new band: The Armada. They will perform at the Fly By Night in Fremantle on Saturday 6 June 2009.

Jeff Martin & Wayne Sheehy will also perform an acoustic set on Sunday 7 June at the Indi Bar in Scarborough.

The Armada will celebrate the national release of their Eastern-fuelled, Zeppelin stained self-titled debut with a short run of launch shows around the country.

The Armada is a three piece, featuring ‘ferocious drumming demon’ Wayne Sheehy (Robert Palmer, Ronnie Wood), Martin’s partner in crime from Cork, Ireland whom he recorded the album with in 2008. The record was finished at ‘analogue wonderland’ Poons Head studios in Perth, WA towards the end of 2008 and will be in Australian shops on Saturday May 2.

Tickets for the Saturday show are $50.00 + booking fee from the Fly By Night.

And for the Sunday Indi Bar show, tickets are $40.00 + booking fee from Heatseeker.

Jeff Martin – 28/29/30 Nov 08

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Jeff Martin returns with The Armada for shows at the Fly By Night Club on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 November 2008, and a show with friends at the Indi Bar on Sunday 30 November 2008.

Former Tea Party front man Jeff Martin and legendary percussionist Wayne Sheehy are on a mission. Drawing on the pairs vast experience of both studio and live performance, this album is a declaration of intent. This is where east meets west, past meets future, now meets then, light meets shade, they shake hands and slug it out.

Ticket are $50 + booking fee for the Fly By Night shows and $40 + booking fee for the Indi Bar (Scarborough) show.

tzu – 30 July to 3 August 2008

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

tzuAustralian hip hoppers tzu tour Australia in July/August.

In 2008 TZU have once again smashed the pre-conceptions of what hip hop can sound like with their highly anticipated 3rd album COMPUTER LOVE. Within the 14 songs on COMPUTER LOVE, TZU tackle serious subject matter such as domestic violence, work place psychosis, first time love and the relationship between linguistics and reality, as well as serving up a solid dose of their trademark good time party raps. COMPUTER LOVE is an album that sees TZU combining their signature sound with fresh synth heavy hooks, thumping beats and plenty of soulful sing-along choruses.

They perform in WA as follows:
Wednesday 30th July – The Indi Bar, Scarborough WA
Thursday 31st July – Prince of Wales, Bunbury WA
Friday 1st August – Settlers Tavern , Margaret River, WA
Saturday 2nd August – Hyde Park Hotel, Perth WA
Sunday 3rd August – The Newport Hotel, Fremantle WA

I’ll update this with ticketing information when I know more.
