SHOW TONIGHT CANCELLED

Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the promoter’s control, tonight’s Necro show at Perth’s Hyde Park Ballroom has had to be cancelled.

An incident in Perth this afternoon has led to Australian police detaining Necro until his scheduled court appearance tomorrow, Friday June 5th.

Refunds are available from point of purchase.  Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the promoter, rescheduling the concert isn’t possible.  Both Necro and the promoter regret disappointing fans.

Necro returns to Australia and performs at the Hyde Park Hotel in Perth on Thursday 4  June 2009.

Brooklyn born and raised rapper Necro started off by playing guitar in bands until 1990. It would be the influence of his older brother Ill Bill (an acclaimed artist in his own right) who would switch his interest towards hip hop music.
Over the past decade, Necro has established himself as one of the most successful crossover artists from the hip-hop genre and is now also a massive cult figure amongst fans of metal and hardcore music thanks to his controversial, brutal lyrical content.

18+ show

Tickets on sale from 78 Records, Bocs Ticketing and Moshtix.com.au for $44.00 + booking fee.

tzu – 30 July to 3 August 2008

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

tzuAustralian hip hoppers tzu tour Australia in July/August.

In 2008 TZU have once again smashed the pre-conceptions of what hip hop can sound like with their highly anticipated 3rd album COMPUTER LOVE. Within the 14 songs on COMPUTER LOVE, TZU tackle serious subject matter such as domestic violence, work place psychosis, first time love and the relationship between linguistics and reality, as well as serving up a solid dose of their trademark good time party raps. COMPUTER LOVE is an album that sees TZU combining their signature sound with fresh synth heavy hooks, thumping beats and plenty of soulful sing-along choruses.

They perform in WA as follows:
Wednesday 30th July – The Indi Bar, Scarborough WA
Thursday 31st July – Prince of Wales, Bunbury WA
Friday 1st August – Settlers Tavern , Margaret River, WA
Saturday 2nd August – Hyde Park Hotel, Perth WA
Sunday 3rd August – The Newport Hotel, Fremantle WA

I’ll update this with ticketing information when I know more.

Ben Kweller – 19-21 October 2007

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Ben Kweller Ben Kweller returns to Australia with his trio, and will perform at the Hyde Park Hotel on 19 October, Settlers Tavern (Margaret River) on 20 October and the Newport Hotel on 21 October 2007.

They’re small venues, I have a feeling they’ll sell out!

Ben Kweller toured Australia earlier this year in April playing festivals (West Coast Blues ‘n’ Roots Festival, East Coast Blues ‘n’ Roots Festival, Southern Roots Festival, Point Nepean Festival and Great Escape Festival) and supporting John Mayer. It was hard not to fall instantly in love with the pocket-sized Brooklyn sweetheart as he bounded onto the stage, guitar in hand, face beaming.

Tickets on sale 22 August: BOCS Ticketing and Sunset Events
Official website: Ben Kweller
Venues: Hyde Park Hotel, Settlers Tavern, Newport Hotel

Comedy Lounge, Hyde Park Hotel

Friday, July 29th, 2005

Last night I went to the Comedy Lounge at the Hyde Park Hotel (North Perth) with two colleagues.

The Comedy night is held every Thursday, and usually costs $15.
There are always several acts on, and usually one main act.
Yesterday that was Dave Callan, but we also saw Claire Hooper (has also been on Rove recently), Xavier Michelides and another young guy. Malcolm Dix was the MC for the night.
I’m not THAT into stand-up comedy, but I really did have a great time, laughed A LOT, and will have take Pascal and others there some time.
It’s held at a hotel, so you can have a meal (buffet) beforehand, or even take it in with you. It’s wise to book a table, otherwise you could end up standing. Starts at 8.30, but get there before 8!!
