Eskimo Joe – 15 + 16 August 09

Eskimo Joe are back for a tour around Australia, and perform at Fremantle Arts Centre on Saturday 15 an Sunday 16 August 2009.

The wait is finally over for Eskimo Joe’s Australian fans to see their favourite live act on the just announced ‘INSHALLA AUSTRALIAN TOUR’ throughout July and August 2009.
Eskimo Joe have just returned from a European tour and have come home to the news that their latest single, ‘Foreign Land’ came in as the #1 Most Added Song at radio and after two weeks on air is already riding high in the Top 20 of the Australian Airplay Chart.

Death Cab for Cutie return to Australia, and perform at Fremantle Arts Centre on Thursday 19 February 2009.

Kicking off the tour with an outdoor show in Fremantle, Death Cab for Cutie are then set to perform in intimate theatre surrounds in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. The year just past saw Death Cab for Cutie’s sixth studio album “Narrow Stairs”, debut at Number 6 on the ARIA Album Chart and an impressive Number 1 debut on the US Billboard Chart. “Narrow Stairs is rapidly approaching Gold sales (500,000) in their home country.

Cat EmpireAs well as performing at Southbound in Busselton in January, The Cat Empire will perform two shows at Fremantle Arts Centre, on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 March 2009. (Friday sold out)

The National Tour will support the Feb ’09 release of a new album – LIVE ON EARTH – which incorporates recordings of shows all over the world, spanning the bands career to date. The archives have been raided, and the best takes will be found on a double disc compilation. This is the closest you can come to having The Cat Empire play live in your lounge room.

The Swell Season – 25 January 09

The Swell Season perform at the Fremantle Arts Centre on Sunday 25 January 2009.

The distinctive and heartwarming duo of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, who perform live as The Swell Season, are heading to Australia to play concerts in Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane.
The Swell Season, made up of Hansard from the Irish band, The Frames and Irglova, a classically trained Czech pianist and vocalist – made headlines in February 2008 when they won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for Falling Slowly, beating out songs from the films Enchanted and August Rush. The song was also nominated for a 2008 Grammy award.

Pete Murray is coming to the Southbound Festival in Busselton on 3 January, but he will also perform a sideshow at Fremantle Arts Centre on Sunday 4 January 2009.

Pete Murray stands tall amongst Australian songwriters with his formidable fusion of roots/rock guts and a subtle, intimate touch that nods to the balladeering greats.
He is quintessentially Australian, yet with a global mantra that’s seen his music breach national barriers and seduce hearts worldwide.

The Black Keys – 29 December 08

The Black Keys return to Perth on Monday 29 December 2008 and perform at Fremantle Arts Centre with Dr Dog and Abbe May supporting.

Tearing up our highways and flight paths since 2003, the band has gone from small clubs to selling out theatres and large rooms from Darwin to Hobart. Their dirty rock and soul sound has won them a loyal and passionate audience that continues to grow. Funk Club Festival feat. The Herd – 15 Nov 08

The Funk Club will be hosting its 2nd annual festival on Saturday 15 November 2008 at Fremantle Arts Centre!

One of Australia’s favourite acts, Sydney band The Herd will be headlining this years festival along with the UK’s own musical tastemaker Russ Dewbury (direct from the Brighton Jazz Rooms). Local heroes The Sunshine Brothers, Charlie Bucket and the Funk Club House Band will also be featured along with various other Fremantle performers and entertaining surprises!
