Sydney girl Bertie Blackman has announced her national “Thump” tour following the recent release of her new album “Secrets and Lies”. She will be in Perth for two nights in August.

‘Secrets and Lies’ was launched with an album of the week feature on triple j and a hit single with the track Heart, one of the most downloaded singles of the week ever on iTunes, plus sold out shows in Melbourne and Sydney. Next month will see Bertie take the live show to the rest of the country as she releases her second single, ‘Thump’. Haunting vocals soar, industrial electronics collide and the track troughs into eerie breaths of quiet throughout. For Bertie Blackman, ‘Thump captures that feeling of walking home late at night; your footsteps hit the pavement and your whole body pulsates. You become really aware of your breath and heartbeat.’

Bertie Blackman will also be returning to Perth in September as part of the Parklife Festival.

Tickets will be $20 + bf and are available here!

28 August – Fly By Night
29 August – Amplifier Bar

Augie March – 21+22 August 09

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Augie March perform at the Fly By Night in Fremantle on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 August.

For the past 13 years Melbourne band Augie March have achieved what very few bands, indeed artists in any field in Australia, can claim to have achieved. While steadily building a loyal and ferocious fan base, they have simultaneously sustained critical acclaim and commercial viability.

This year has seen the completion of two very successful and very different tours on the back of the release of their fourth LP “Watch Me Disappear”. The most recent, titled “On The Quiet” was a sellout, a rare presentation of the band stripped back and swinging, a revelation for many in the audience who perhaps had always heard the music but never realised it was 5 human beings with sticks and strings making it come about.

Special guests: Gareth Liddiard and Dan Luscombe from The Drones

Tickets on sale from Heatseeker and the Fly By Night for $35 + booking fee.

Evermore – 6 and 7 June 09

evermore

Evermore return to Perth and perform at Capitol on Saturday 6 June and twice on Sunday 7 June at the Fly By Night in Fremantle: an under 18’s show at 2pm and an 18+ show at 8pm.

Consider everything you think you know about Evermore. Run through their history, of brothers Jon, Peter and Dann Hume growing up in the rural New Zealand town of Feilding and finding their feet as musicians. Reflect on their breakthrough 2004 debut Dreams and its beautifully crafted follow-up, 2006’s Real Life, selling platinum and double platinum. Look at their six ARIA Award nominations, two NZ Music Awards, Channel [V] and MTV gongs, and the high esteem in which music fans and peers hold them. Gather those thoughts for a moment – then get ready to be blown away.

The result, the beautifully crafted Truth Of The World: Welcome To The Show, is one of the most ambitious albums you’ll ever hear. A grandiose piece of music that plays out like a modern brave new world rock opera, its foundation is built on a fictional news broadcast and branches out to paint aural pictures of a space saturated with cheap consumer pleasures, ads, channel-surfing sound effects and catchphrases woven into a rich musical tapestry.

All shows supported by End of Fashion and The Sundance Kids.

Tickets $35 + booking fee ($30 + booking fee for the under 18’s show)

Saturday show at Capitol: tickets from moshtix.

Sunday shows at Fly By Night: tickets from the Fly By Night website

Peter Combe tours again and performs at the Fly By Night in Fremantle with a kids show at 11am and 18+ show at 8pm on Friday 17 July 2009.

Peter pioneered the ABC for Kids label pre-Wiggles days and has sold over a million CDS. In 2007 & 2008 he toured Australia doing evening shows to young adults (18-28) singing his kids’ songs (with full band). The enthusiasm for the evening ‘renaissance’ shows (there’s A DVD) was quite mind blowing and broke new ground in the Australian Showbiz scene.

Tickets for the kids show are $13.00 + booking fee, and the 18+ show are $22.00 + bf, from the Fly By Night.

Bob Evans performs at the Fly By Night on Friday 29 May 2009 for his national ‘Goodbye, Bull Creek’ tour.

‘Goodnight, Bull Creek’ is the third album from Bob Evans and was recorded in Nashville with producer Brad Jones (Josh Rouse, Sheryl Crow) who also produced the last Bob Evans album ‘Suburban Songbook’. While keeping you in the palm of his hand with his endearing lyrics and melodies, the album does take a sidestep away from the previous albums to show a different side to Bob. ‘This is my rock album. I’m saying goodbye to the suburbs,’ he said.

Bob will be joined by his new band – Malcolm Clark (Sleepy Jackson), Hugh Jennings (End of Fashion, Bob Evans), Ben Witt (The Chemist) and Louis Macklin (67 Special) – as well as special guest Steve Poltz all the way from the USA.

Tickets: $30.00 + booking fee from The Fly By Night.
