The Pride Festival is a month of events beginning with the City of Perth Pride Fairday on 30 September and concluding with the Pride Parade through the streets of Northbridge on 27 October 2007.
City of Perth Pride Fairday – Sunday 30 September – 10am to 6pm – Russel Square, Northbridge
Fairday is always the ideal start to Pride Month, with our entire community coming together to celebrate our Pride in a relaxed and festive setting that enables businesses, community groups and government agencies to interact through stalls and entertainment; live bands, cabaret singers, and dancers. Families can picnic on the lawn beneath the shade of the trees. There’s activities for the kids, and the Dog Show.
Pride Parade – Saturday 27 October – from 8pm – Northbridge
Perth’s first Pride Parade was held during the day in 1990 to protest against the oppression and discrimination that continued to be felt throughout our gay and lesbian community. Over the year’s, the Parade was transformed into a spectacular display of visibility and diversity and is now held at night to mark the end of October’s Pride festival.
For other events check out the Pride WA website, and download the festival guide!
The closing party (UNIVERSall) will be bigger than ever this year, at the Belmont Race Course from 10pm on 27 October, so after the Pride Parade. Tickets through Moshtix.
