Shakespeare in the Park – Summer 2010

Friday, December 11th, 2009

TAMING_SHREW_shakespeare

Shakespeare in the Park is back in King’s Park from 8 January to 6 February 2010 with ‘Taming of the Shrew’.

The 2010 season of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew in Kings Park and Botanic Garden marks the second production for Western Australia’s new classical theatre company, Shakespeare WA. This is one of Shakespeare’s funniest comedies and remarkably its thematic battle of the sexes makes it as pertinent today as it was when written 400 years ago. So pack a picnic, lay down a rug and surrender yourself to this most rare vision by the world’s most wonderful playwright.

Josh_Thomas

Josh Thomas, you might know him from Channel Ten’s Talkin’ ‘bout Your Generation, is performing live at the Octagon Theatre on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October 2009.

Josh has taken his collection of awkward teenage moments and turned pro, talking about his countless first hand “what not to do” experiences in venues around the world. It’s the classic tale of the nerd made good. His endearing humour is tinged with sexual ambiguity, a cheeky tongue and a good dose of neuroses.
After winning the 2005 Raw Comedy competition, Josh went on to pick up the coveted Best Newcomer award at the 2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. He has since performed at the Edinburgh, Montreal and Kilkenny Comedy Festivals, and has been a regular on Good News Week.

Ticketing and venue details at the EP! event page. On 23 October there is one show at 7pm and on 24 October a show at 5pm and a show at 7pm.

arj_barker

Tender observations, mixed with hearty chunks of sarcasm and delicate slices of irony, smothered in that good ol’ fashioned, unwarranted anger you love. Mmmmmm. That’s quality you can hear. That’s Original Style Bits ‘n Pieces.
Australia’s adopted son of comedy is back by popular demand, after a sell out season at last year’s Melbourne Comedy Festival. He will certainly sell out again, so come see him while he still has integrity!
