London Philharmonic Orchestra - 2+3 Oct 09

london_philharmonicThe London Philharmonic Orchestra perform at the Perth Concert Hall on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October 2009. There is a different program each day (see below).

Vladimir Jurowski joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra as Principal Conductor in September 2007 after a glittering career as guest at some of the world’s leading music institutions such as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Russian National Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera New York and a most successful tenure with the Glyndeborne Festival Opera.

Program One – Friday 2 October – soloist Vadim Repin
The repertoire for the concerts have been especially chosen for Australia: the first will open with Schumann’s dramatic and passionate Manfred Overture, followed by Bruch’s most famous work, the Violin Concerto. Bringing the evening to a close will be Brahms tour de force, Symphony No.1.

Program Two – Saturday 3 October – soloist Jean-Yves Thibaudet
The second program is no less spectacular, commencing with Rachmaninov’s symphonic poem Isle of the Dead, Ravel’s evocative and flamboyant jazz infused Concerto in G and concluding with Tchaikovsky’s towering and best loved symphony, Symphony No.4.

Tickets available from BOCS Ticketing from Monday 4 May.   Prices from $120 to $155 for full price tickets.

There’s also a dinner and show option for the Friday show, see the BOCS site.
