Escape to the Park – photos

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

The Cruel SeaEscape to the Park 2008 was held on Saturday 29 November in King’s Park. Performing were Abbe May & The Rockin Pneumonia, Kate Miller-Heidke, Bob Evans, Ben Lee and The Cruel Sea.

It was a lovely day for a picnic, and that’s what most did, as it’s not the kind of festival where there’s a lot of dancing, as there’s only a small area at the side of the stage suitable for that.

Photos by John MacFadyen, see more in the flickr Escape to the Park set!

The Streets – 13 February 2009

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

The Streets (Mike Skinner and co) are in Perth on Friday 13 February to perform at Metro City

Hailed as the ‘voice of a generation’, Mike Skinners The Streets are revered by music critics and fans alike. The first time people heard The Streets Mercury nominated album Original Pirate Material, they couldn’t decide on whether the person making the music was black or white, from London or the Midlands, deadly serious or a total joker.
These days The Mercury Prize winner and Brit Award nominee has been described as one of the most authentic voices of British youth for many years.
The Streets have made the cultural crossover from the small UK Garage music and pirate radio scene to the mainstream becoming equally as important to the charts as they are to the indie kids.
With a brand new album, Everything Is Borrowed (September 2008) tucked under their belts,The Streets return to Australia to tour in 2009.

Tickets on sale 5 December for $69 + booking fee from Moshtix.

To be rock ‘n’ roll survivors is an achievement. To be Europe’s top live band, thirty years after its inception is truly fantastic but to still be enthusiastic, fresh, totally committed and in love with the music is a positive miracle.

Tickets on sale from Ticketek for $90.00
