Crystal Castles – 11 February 2009

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Crystal Castles perform at Capitol in Perth on Wednesday 11 February 2009.

Since forming in 2004, the Toronto-based duo of Ethan Fawn and Alice Glass has amassed a cult following with their uncompromising and intense delivery, a slew of limited edition singles, and electrifying live performances. Over this time the band has toured extensively in the UK, Europe and North America, shared bills with the Klaxons and Metric, and has also remixed tracks for the likes of Bloc Party and the Klaxons, amongst others.

Crystal Castles unique take on bleep-pop and electro glitch has seen them categorised as leaders of the 8-bit and nu-rave subgenres, however the bands nihilist aesthetic and a diverse body of work suggests their sound is beyond classification.

Tickets on sale from Moshtix for $44 + booking fee. 18+ gig.

Cult of Luna – 18 February 2009

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Cult of Luna come to Australia for the very first time and perform at Capitol in Perth on Wednesday 18 February 2009.

Their sound has progressed from being heavily doom metal influenced to one much less aggressive and more about orchestration which falls into a sub-genre known as post-metal. Cult Of Luna are at post metal’s forefront along with contemporary such as Neurosis, Pelican and Isis. The band also cite Radiohead and Pink Floyd as major influences.
Cult Of Luna are known for their stunning live shows and will be showcasing their talents to Australian audiences with performances from their deep back catalogue as well as with material from their fifth release, 2008’s conceptual masterpiece, Eternal Kingdom – their heaviest and darkest offering yet.

Tickets from Moshtix and Heatseeker for $49.50 + booking fee.

Bon Iver – 15 January 2009

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Bon Iver perform at the Fly By Night in Fremantle on Thursday 15 January 2009.

Bon Iver (pronounced: bohn eevair; French for “good winter”) is a greeting, a celebration and a sentiment. Justin Vernon, the primary force behind Bon Iver, has penned an unassumingly beautiful masterpiece, a nine-song album praised by critics and fans alike.

Initially released independently, the record was quickly picked up by Jagjaguwar in the US, 4AD in the UK and Rogue Records in Australia. The response was overwhelming, and Vernon was wholeheartedly embraced for his uninhibited songwriting.

Tickets on sale through Heatseeker for $48 + booking fee. 18+ licensed gig.
