The rumours had of course already started, but Undercovermusic now reports that promoters Lees and West have confirmed Neil Young as the headliner for the Big Day Out 2009.
Promoters Lees and West have confirmed to Undercover that Young will be touring Australia as part of the Big Day Out line-up.
The first official announcement for the Big Day Out 2009 will be on September 30th.
Neil Young is also doing sideshows, but at this time only dates for Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne have been announced.
Looks like the Perth Big Day Out will be on 1 February 2009.

Just wondering how old Lynnie and Eve are? I’m 46 and i’m going to the Big Day Out.
Only because of Neil though. Never ever thought i go to the BDO, but I think I’d go crazy knowing he’s in town and i”m not at the show. Ive went to the bluesfest last year and southbound. I know older people who go to BDO every year without fail. Who knows i may discover some new band and im hoping some young people will realise how great Neil is.
I worked out that im not going all day……as its probably gonna be way to hot, so im going early evening when its a bit cooler…..Neil comes on at 8.30.
I can’t wait! He better do Like a Hurricane……..of course he will though …wont he???

i am a lover of all music and a longtime big day out goer i go to the bigday out to go and see the big name acts of today not YESTERDAY i think its a shame hey have made neil young the headline act and missed someone like kings of leon or many other bands while i dont deny that neil young is a legend of music his soft style of music is not going to be appreciated by me or the majority of the crowd who are young and probably have not heard of him
i would love to go see him do a solo show a the quarry ampithertre i think it would be a greta show but when im pilling out after watching pendulum and living end etc.. it will ruin my night i think
