  1. Sami says:

i think they have really missed a big target audience with this first announcement. I’m mainly into punk/hardcore/rock, but I’d even settle for a decent metal band or two.

There is literally nothing on this lineup that I like, whereas they last 3 BDOs have catered for mine, and a lot of other peoples taste.

    BRING ON THE 2ND ANNOUNCEMENT!

does anyone know when it is?

  2. Lachlan says:

well depends where you live really, i know in perth its on feb 1st. and if you dont think neil young is big youre actually retarded he was the biggest thing in grunge, well, ever. That’s like saying the beatles werent big just coz you didnt like them.

  3. Sami says:

i meant does anyone know when the 2nd announcement is. I have nothing against neil young and didnt say he isnt big either

  4. Kev says:

I actually agree with Ben, well not the part where hes acting like a dickhead, im only 17 but ive been to 2 BDO’s and the metal bands seem to get everyone hyped up and going, Disturbed is metal and always will be, except if you wanted to see them man they toured last month you spaz, BDO is for music and interation, not so much socializing but meh, as long as you enjoy it who gives a shit about the music genres, you gotta take the good with the bad, its not like you have to go listen to all of the bands, thats why they set up multiple stages, plus Bullet isnt emo, its thrash metal and its AWESOME! lol well i put my two cents worth in, Laterz

  5. lara says:

ill b there, but pretty crappy line up soooo far, thank god for the atmosphere!!!! neil young yippee!!!!

  6. Greg says:

I sort of agree with Ben, but i don’t wanna share his hate mail..

i’m glad to see Bullet going but yeah there does’nt seem to be a lot of other bands that appeal to me.

The BDO has had a lot of good BIG bands in the past and i hope to see it continue

Some people say it is’nt All about the music and that’s fair enough, but without the music basically it’s just a lot of walking around, i did’nt enjoy myself last year because there was’nt a great deal i wanted to see and i found myself either sitting down talking with mates(which i seem to do every W/e) or getting stuck in big crowds waiting 20 mins to move 5 steps.

I’d probably still go every year because the whole atmosfear is quite exciting, but a few more metal bands would be nice

still glad to see Tzu and pendulum are going , but waiting for the second announcement with my fingers crossed.

  7. Lynnie says:

Can anyone PLEASE tell me if Neil Young is doing a concert in Perth BESIDES the BDO???? I tried to book tix for Sydney and Melbourne but they are SOLD OUT. He HAS to come here …. SURELY??????

  8. Simone says:

    Nothing announced yet…
It will be on my site as a separate article if it does, but it’s not looking likely at this stage…

  9. Tinny says:

I think the line up is awesome :) I’m into all sorts of music and theres only 4 bands I don’t know who are coming to perth! And I’m only 16, I’m not old yet I agree with the “old” people! Hahaha.
And people stop dissing the line up! Every one is into different music! I’m sure some people might think your music is shit as well! But they accept it! Get over it man! People who like the music will go, those who don’t, won’t, simple!
    Catchyas :D

  10. Sean says:

TV on the Radio and My Morning Jacket are both terrific bands plus Neil Young is a legend but apart from that there is prob no-one else (except for the ting tings =]) which i’d consider paying to see which is dissapointing. Hopefully The Racontuers and Cat Power are announced in the 2nd announcment or Radiohead (bit of a long shot for that one i think) cause then it would be totally awesome. plus anyone who’s a fan of bfmv doesnt know what music is to they hear tvotr play, cause they are the defenition of awesome.

  11. natasha says:

big day out 09 will be fkng sick!!
arctic monkeys (wish the kooks would play in Adelaide grr)
    living end
    bullet
    cut copy

would be great to see PNAU and PRESETS again
DIZEE was good too last year

  12. Jennie says:

    Shyeahhhhhhhhhh
    Prodigy, Pendulum…… Im there baby

  13. Beau says:

should be wiked same as every year
big fan of neil young. he is too much of a big ticket item not to be headlining but it just seems slightly away from the theme in past years, i would say it’d be better if he was on a side stage for the more chilled out croud, but i know thats not going to happen..
looking forward to the second lineup. im going anyway but would love to see kings of leon and possibly the presets among others

  14. Simone says:

Kings of Leon are at Rock It, beginning of march, so def will not be at the Big Day Out :)

  19. mandy says:

Hya , just wondering where the BDO is being held in Perth, friggin selling tickets before clinching the venue is rough, gonna be well hard to get to if it’s one of those outta town venues.

  20. jess says:

Omg we need more metaL WTF ting tings and sneaky sound system jesus come on bdo come on back to the them :( presets would have been cool or disturbd slipknot oo well itll do

  21. Simone says:

    Claremont Showgrounds, confirmed.

  22. Alex says:

i’d say they have a few decent acts such as the living end, Neil young, bullet for my vallentine THE PRODIGY!!! (OMG!!), but they have definitely had better acts in recent years and i cant remember who said it up top, but i agree with u wen u say that they are “TRYING” to get good acts but many bands cant fit it in their schedule. i’d love to see slipknot at BDO coz i saw em in october in 08 and they were OFF THE HOOK! clown even crowd-surfed the front row and i got to pat him on the back =]

  23. Michael says:

Wouldnt mind the killers playing or maybe even oasis

  24. Dimevision says:

Jesus fuck’n christ! The prodigy are goin’ to be insaaanee… I’d crawl over broken glass naked to see those guys. And PENDULUM?! haha fuck yeaaah that just tops it off. Couldn’t give a fuck about the rest
