tzu – 30 July to 3 August 2008

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

tzuAustralian hip hoppers tzu tour Australia in July/August.

In 2008 TZU have once again smashed the pre-conceptions of what hip hop can sound like with their highly anticipated 3rd album COMPUTER LOVE. Within the 14 songs on COMPUTER LOVE, TZU tackle serious subject matter such as domestic violence, work place psychosis, first time love and the relationship between linguistics and reality, as well as serving up a solid dose of their trademark good time party raps. COMPUTER LOVE is an album that sees TZU combining their signature sound with fresh synth heavy hooks, thumping beats and plenty of soulful sing-along choruses.

They perform in WA as follows:
Wednesday 30th July – The Indi Bar, Scarborough WA
Thursday 31st July – Prince of Wales, Bunbury WA
Friday 1st August – Settlers Tavern , Margaret River, WA
Saturday 2nd August – Hyde Park Hotel, Perth WA
Sunday 3rd August – The Newport Hotel, Fremantle WA

I’ll update this with ticketing information when I know more.

Def Leppard – 31 October 2008

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Def LeppardBritish rock heavyweights, Def Leppard, will include Australia in the world tour for their new album “Songs From The Sparkle Lounge” and it will be their first visit since 1992. It kicks off in Perth with a show at Members Equity Stadium on Friday 31 October 2008.

Cheap Trick and Melbourne band The Galvatrons will be joining them.

The DEF LEPPARD story is now down in rock history. From humble beginnings in Sheffield 30 years ago, the band became a world conquering musical force. They have garnered almost every accolade and award available in the music industry and are one of an elite few (along with Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, U2 and the Eagles) to have received two Diamond awards for individual album sales in excess of a staggering 10 million units for the ground-breaking “Pyromania” (1983) and “Hysteria” (1987). With singles like ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’, ‘Love Bites’, ‘Rocket’, ‘Rock of Ages’ ‘Armageddon It’, ‘Let’s Get Rocked’ and ‘Photograph’, DEF LEPPARD became a staple at rock radio all over the world.

CHEAP TRICK burst out of Rockford, Illinois in the late 70’s with an irresistible blend of pop, punk and metal. With timeless classics like ‘I Want You To Want Me’, ‘Surrender’, ‘Dream Police’, ‘If You Want My Love’ and the late 80’s lighter-waving favourite ‘The Flame’, the band have sold more 20 million albums and had their songs featured on 30 movie soundtracks.

Tickets on sale from Ticketmaster from 23 June!

Gyroscope – 3 October 2008

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

GyroscopePerth band Gyroscope is heading off for another tour later this year, and will perform at Metro City in Perth with Jebediah and Sugar Army on Friday 3 October 2008.

Released on Saturday July 12, Gyroscope’s new single Australia delves deeper into the band’s pop attributes delivering a poignant tuneful track which draws you in with its acoustic opening and takes you on a melodic ride as its marching-band beat and lush strings build to its magic crescendo. Australia is testimony to a young band willing to challenge themselves and with this track they’ve superbly crafted an anthemic major crossover hit which has already been embraced widely by radio around the country.

Their only other WA show for this tour (so far) is at the Wild Oats Festival in Northam on Saturday 4 October.

Tickets on sale from Heatseeker for around $30.
