Barry Adamson – 21 June 2008

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Barry AdamsonBarry Adamson (one of the founding members of The Bad Seeds) will perform at The Bakery on Saturday 21 June 2008.

Barry Adamson has been doing things differently ever since he strapped on a bass guitar, scoring the chart single, Shot by Both Sides while playing for ex-Buzzcocks singer Howard Devoto’s Manchester based Magazine as a teenager in late Seventies. When Magazine disbanded, five albums later in 1981, his definitive touch was spotted by Nick Cave of The Birthday Party, with whom he played several times. After that band’s final implosion in 1983, Barry became a founder member of The Bad Seeds, along with Nick Cave, Mick Harvey and Blixa Bargeld.

Tickets on sale from Heatseeker for $45 + bf.

18+ show, special guests to be announced.

The Breeders – 30 July 2008

Friday, April 18th, 2008

The BreedersThe Breeders return to Australia and perform in Perth at Capitol on Wednesday 30 July 2008.

By turns goofy, groovy, melancholic, strung-out, catchy, atmospheric & impossibly lovely, Mountain Battles captures all the bittersweet electricity of classic Breeders records like Pod & Last Splash, whilst still managing to break new ground. Kim Deal is undeniably a songwriter & musician of rare intuition as she balances scuffed-up noise against fraught silence, & timeless structures against strange new shapes, all framed by her unique voice – languid, urgent, bruised & beautiful. Naturally she was joined by twin sister Kelley for the recording, along with Title TK veterans Jose Medeles & Mando Lopez, who all also make up the touring band.

Tickets on sale via Heatseeker and Moshtix for about $50.

Cut Copy – 13 + 14 June 2008

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Cut CopyCut Copy perform at Capitol in Perth on Friday 13 June & Saturday 14 June 2008.

With the stardust having barely settled following the release of Cut Copy’s chart topping sophomore album In Ghost Colours and having dazzled audiences with their appearance at the recent V Festival, come June the masters, purveyors and destroyers of indie-dance Cut Copy (Dan Whitford, Tim Hoey & Mitchell Scott) are set to embark on a full-fledged run of national headline dates supported by 2 DFA special guests, happy house hero The Juan McLean (USA) & The Shocking Pinks (NZ).
Cut Copy’s live show has been likened to that of a lunar eclipse, a perfect harmony of celestial events which results in thousands putting down what they were doing to shed glittery tears of joy at the phenomena.

Tickets on sale Thursday 24th April at 9am from Ticketek for $45.00
