West Coast Blues n Roots 2008 wrap up

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

John FogertyThe 5th West Coast Blues n Roots Festival has been and gone.
A lot of good music, good vibes and sunshine, and a lack of rubbish thanks to all the green initiatives! Unfortunately some issues again with sound like at Southbound and certain ticket holders having trouble getting in, but all in all I think it’s one of the more well organised and relaxed festivals of the summer.

Children of Bodom – 30 June 2008

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Children of BodomFinnish metal band Children of Bodom return to Australia and perform in Perth at Club Capitol on Monday 30 June 2008.

They’ve been described as one of the biggest contemporary metal bands in the world, and if Children of Bodom’s sold out Australian tour of 2005 is an indication, then this claim holds more than a grain of truth. Featuring charismatic front-man Alexi Laiho, the band will showcase their unique mix of melodic death metal, killer riffs, guitar solos and keyboards to their rapidly growing fan base. Children of Bodom have featured on the line up of prestigious overseas tours recently, including Unholy Alliance Tour with Slayer and Lamb of God and 2008’s US Gigantour and are set to perform at the upcoming Monsters of Rock and Wacken Open Air.

Support comes from Sydney band Synperium.

Tickets are $78.80 from BOCS.

Weddings, Parties, Anything – 28 + 29 March

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Weddings, Parties, Anything have sold out their show of 28 March at Fremantle Arts Centre, but have added a show at the same venue on Saturday 29 March 2008.

It’s been a complex chain of events that has seen one of Australia’s best loved live acts of the late eighties and nineties decide to pull on the boots again. A charity show for a Melbourne homeless mission in 2005 saw people come from all over the country, warm-up shows at Melbourne rock venues that sold out in a matter of hours – and then an offer to headline the 2006 Queenscliff Festival seemed like a good idea.

Tickets are $50 + booking fee from Heatseeker.

They’re 18+ gigs.

Support on Friday: Ron Hawkins & Zydecats

Support on Saturday: Ron Hawkins & The Kill Devil Hills
