Tiger Army – 16 March 2008

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Tiger ArmyTiger Army come to Perth after fans petitioned for it! They’ll perform at the Amplifier Bar on Sunday 16 March 2007.

For the devoted who tattoo the lyrics and “TigerBat” logo on their bodies, Tiger Army is more than a band – it’s a way of life. Nick 13’s music channels the frustration, loneliness, despair and triumph of sheer will of a lost generation, buzzing with power and dark romance.

The worldwide psychobilly scene owes an enormous debt to the So Cal trio, whose four albums and relentless touring have infused the genre with the interest of countless new listeners. The latest offering Music From Regions Beyond pushes psychobilly forward musically and otherwise by breaking its “rules,” the way Joy Division, The Smiths or The Cure forged a new “post” punk. As seen on tour with Rancid and Morrissey, Tiger Army’s live show is unmatched and their audience connection similarly unparalleled.

Special guests: Zombie Ghost Train

Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold – 11/12 May 08

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Bullet for my ValentineBullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold and special guests Atreyu perform two shows in Perth in May 2008!

The first show is an all ages gig at 3.30pm on Sunday 11 May at Metro City.

The second is an 18+ gig, at 8pm on Monday 12 May, also at Metro City.

One fervently reverent, the other fearlessly revolutionary, the tour heralds a dawning of a new age of metal as much as each band have brought a new language to the global metal tribe …Australia awaits glorious carnage.

Leading the new brigade of heavy metal in the UK, Bullet For My Valentine certainly know their stuff. Utilising the ferocious synchronized flourishes of classic ’80s guitar slingers, the quartet construct impeccably catchy and granite-heavy sounds. The assured, majestic debut ‘The Poison’ of 2005 instantly marked the band as inheritors of British metal’s flame.

Avenged SevenfoldEqually versed in the untamed thrash of the past, but with dreams even grander than their extravagant songs suggest, are California’s worshipped and reviled Avenged Sevenfold. Answering to no one but themselves, this quintet of hell-raisers whip up a firestorm of outrage with each release, from the melodically shameless crunching metalcore of their 2001 debut ‘Sounding The Seventh Trumpet’ to the gritty genre-thieving mayhem of their fourth, self-titled opus of 2007.

DJ Shadow + Cut Chemist – 18 April 2008

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

The Hard Sell tour AustraliaCalifornian DJs Shadow and Cut Chemist come to Australia for The Hard Sell Tour, and will play at Metro City in Perth on Friday 18 April 2008.

Their new, all-45 show, entitled “The Hard Sell” incorporates eight turntables and two guitar loop pedals, allowing tricks and complexity rarely attempted by a DJ duo. As with the two previous sets, the pair elude their own material in favor of a conglomerate of music from all eras and styles, providing for amusing and provocative mash-ups; rap mixes with fiddle music, doo-wop with new wave, and everything in between…all while avoiding the obvious, “been there, heard that” stuff you get from most DJs.

DJ ShadowLocal Support to be announced.

Tickets available through Moshtix, Planet Video, Mills Records, Rockeby Records, Groove Music, the Spot @ Curtin Uni, Jumbo Video, Galaxy, Capitol and Amplifier for $55 + booking fee.

Lior in Perth – 7 March 2008

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

LiorLior performs at the Regal Theatre in Subiaco on Friday 7 March 2008.

To the casual observer Sydney singer-songwriter Lior emerged from nowhere back in 2005 with his stunning debut album Autumn Flow, but as is often the case with these matters this couldn’t be further from the truth. It was in fact the culmination of years of hard work by Lior, time spent honing both his songwriting and delivery down to the record that eventually captured hearts and minds all over the country.

Special guest is Leeroy Lee.

Tickets on sale from Ticketek for $39.

KoRn – 15 April 2008

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

Korn KoRn will perform with special guests in Perth at Robinson Pavilion at the Claremont Showgrounds on 15 April 2008.

They’ve taken their music to astonishing new heights with the release of their new untitled album. The result is the most revolutionary Korn album since their debut, a barb-wired, bastard son of blinding musical fury, dark and twisted lyrical candor, and searing, sociopathic tendencies. It’s the culmination of everything Korn have come to represent musically.

This is a licensed all ages event, with tickets on sale through BOCS and Ticketek for around $95.

Special guests:
Biohazard – reforming for their 20th anniversary
Chimaira
