Peter Combe – 27 + 28 Oct

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Peter CombePeter Combe, ‘King of the Kids’ (at least in the 80’s/90’s!), now performs for those same kids in pubs and clubs! The Newspaper Mama Revisted tour!

He’ll perform at the Fly By Night in Fremantle on Saturday 27 October and the Amplifier Bar in Perth on Sunday 28 October 2007.

Imagine hundreds of young adults aged between 18 and 27 at the pub ROARING out ‘Wash Your Face in Orange Juice’, ‘Newspaper Mama’, ‘Toffee Apple’, ‘Spaghetti Bolognaise’, ‘Juicy Juicy Green Grass’…the Peter Combe ‘hits’ from ABC TV in the late 80’s and early 90’s (pre Wiggles) when these young adults were about 4 years old and Peter Combe was indisputably King of the Kids! It’s a new phenomenon – This time Peter Combe’s bringing it home to the adults!

Newspaper MamaTickets: Moshtix – 27 Oct at Fly By Night and 28 Oct at Amplifier ($15 + bf)

Perth Fashion Festival – September 2007

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

It’s nearly time again for the Perth Fashion Festival, held over 10 days from 12 to 21 September 2007.

In its ninth year, the Festival will feature runwayshows, Awards of Excellence, free events for the public, national guest appearances, workshops and glamorous social events.

Perth Fashion Festival is Western Australia’s largest annual fashion gala conducted during the spring fashion season. The 2007 Festival will capture the glamour, creativity and personality of fashion, while showcasing talented West Australians.

See the Perth Fashion Festival website for more info and the full program.

Artopia 2007 – 21 September to 14 October

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Artopia is a biennial festival celebrating the talents of local artists across the state of Western Australia, and in 2007 will be held from 21 September to 14 October.

So that’s 23 days, and there will be 250 events with 2500 participating artists!!

Artists display sculpture, glass-making, textiles, jewellery, ceramics, painting, printmaking, new media, animation, mosaic and photography plus a whole lot more. Galleries present special programs to showcase their artists, host talks and offer advice on looking at and buying art.

And it’s all free! (well, to visit, experience, etc).

The opening event in Perth is the Big King Street Draw, from 10am to 4pm on Friday 21 September in King Street, Perth. There will be live entertainment, a celebrity draw-off, you can join in with the drawing, or be drawn, and there will be live caricaturing by some of WA’s cartoonists.

I would tell you more about it, but there’s a great website you can check out and search for events!

We interrupt this service….

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

With a quick note to let you know I’m on holidays (visiting family) in The Netherlands at the moment (until the end of September), so I may occasionally be behind with some things….

If you notice anything missing, please don’t hesitate to submit it!

While I’m posting an ’off topic’ post, I will also let you know that you can join the EnjoyPerth Facembook group, become a friend of the EnjoyPerth myspace, and follow EnjoyPerth on Twitter.

When I started EnjoyPerth in May 2006, I hadn’t expected it to be such a success and time consumer! But with so many people subscribing and finding events through google, it really keeps me motivated! Thanks for all your support :)
