Gigantour is coming to Perth for the first time, and that means Megadeth, Static X, Devildriver and Lacuna Coil.

It’s all happening on Saturday 10 November 2007 at Metro City, and will be a 18+ gig.

Megadeth return to headline GIGANTOUR as part of their worldwide Tour Of Duty supporting new album, ‘United Abominations’, which Heavymetal.com proclaims ‘is the best Megadeth album in at least a decade’. Megadeth are back to their finest form and have spawned a classic thrash album harking back to the halcyon days of Rust In Peace and Countdown To Extinction.

  1. Mick says:

That’d be right… wait 20 years for Megadeth to hit our fine city and they show up on the same night as Muse! Not… happy… Jan! :(

  2. Torchy Thompson the arsonist says:

    MEGADETH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO

  3. Dunc says:

    haha good joke…metro city
    Huge rock gig…and a nightclub
    good work!

  4. Simone says:

Yeah, strange location, and I would think they’d fill a bigger venue. Still, I guess the organisers would know better than me :D

  5. Matt says:

Yeah come on….a nightclub. This is one of the worlds largest metal tours and its in a nightclub.
Megadeth alone has sold millions of albums and will easily fill a larger venue.
Im pretty sure it’ll be moved to a larger place anyway because tickets will sell out in less than a day

  6. Simone says:

I was thinking… there’s a few big concerts on that night…. but… Muse are at Supreme Court Gardens and The Beach Boys are at Perth Zoo.
So that still leaves Burswood, Challenge, Claremont…. Maybe they aren’t as big as we think… we’ll see, I guess!

  7. Matt says:

Well Slayer got moved to Robinson Pavillion at Claremont Showgrounds, as did Machine Head, so im guessing that is probably whats going to happen. Slayer sold out in less than a day, and i think there may be at least as many Megadeth fans as Slayer fans so im pretty confident it’ll be moved.

  8. Dunc says:

I’m not a huge fan of Megadeath, but I can appreciate their music, and i think it is almost verging on rude to give them metro city as their venue for Gigantour. They are one of the “Big Four” in thrash and yet they are almost being sidelined. All acts coming to Perth seem to be getting cruddy venues, at least give megadeath a good one =)

  9. Dunc says:

    Megadeth** sorry for the typo

  10. Mick says:

Another of the ‘big four’ Anthrax only played the Lookout.

I’d take Metro City over Robbo Pavillion any day. Metro City has better vantage points, more bars, better sound system. IMO, the only advantage the Pavillion has is it will hold more people. In fact after Black Sabbath, I’d just about prefer Challenge Stadium.

Maybe after the way the Slayer was handled, this will be the new norm for Perth metal gigs. Announce tour at a smaller venue to ensure good early ticket sales and guage response, then move it later and open it up for more people.

  11. Duck Dodger says:

how much do you reckon tickets are?

  12. Simone says:

I have no idea, but expect around $100, most are around that (except Motorhead which is $135!!!)

  13. Duck Dodger says:

thanks. shame theres no info on ticket prices still.

  14. Droogies,

I’m looking forward to playing in Perth. I hope there will be a big turnout

I will be playing a songs off the new album, and also from ‘Risk’

    peace

  15. Simone says:

Lol, well, I see you’re in Aus at the moment, enjoying it? :p

  16. Bryce Grant says:

Megadeth at metro city? c’mon.. this is a slayer all over again. I Think like most in perth i can see a bit of a trend developing here with venue fucking around.

This will sell out in minutes, obviously. I just hope when they do move it it will be a venue with better bars, sound system and places to watch and rock out to the gig…

Although if it does stay at metro(and your fast and lucky enough to get a ticket in time, including me) than it would be a intimate and rare gig to enjoy..

see you all there friends of quality metal..(Thats if your fast enough of course) :)

  17. JT says:

Muse or Megadeth, thats not even a desision!! I saw Megadeth in Brisbane, the finest show ive ever seen on the planet!!! Wacken 2007 had like 40 amazing bands but was still 2nd best to a megadeth Gig!

    P.s

To Dave Mustaine, dont let the promoters move you to the Robinson pavillion, you will sacrifice your Absolute Perect Sound into a Tinshed Acoustic Disaster (ask Slayer and Mastadon, Sounded like rubbish!)

  18. Jarrad says:

    Can’t wait for this gig!
I guess the venue is smaller than what i expected for megadeth, but at least you know when a gig is played at metros the sound is good, i saw stone sour at metros earlier in the year and the sound was great. Almost any venue beats the giant tin shed that is robinson pavillion for sound.
Hope we get to hear some stuff of rust in peace

  19. steve says:

finally a metal show worth the wait… but guess what everyone will be seeing it at robinson pavillion again or shal i say the flat tin shed… come on perth its the worst venue ever.. its ok if yr 12 and want to drink water all night.. but if you want a drink you have to stand up the back and see NOTHING!!!! saw slayer there and it was a joke.. not slayer the piss poor perth venue.. megadeth are on the world stage lets show them some respect.. i pulled out of machine and trivium cuz of the tin shed factor… lift yr game perth!!!

  20. why, its frigin 18

  21. Simone says:

    finally more info http://www.moshtix.com.au/record.asp?lEventID=13912

Around $90, so that’s not bad compared to others…..

  22. joe says:

the whole getting a ticket system is flawed

  23. Simone says:

how so? (I’ve never booked tickets via moshtix)

  24. joe says:

ok its not the worst thing ever made, but it does have its disadvantages.
i too have not bought too many tickets, let alone moshtix, but fuck! what was wrong with paying money and getting an actual ticket? i didnt see nething wrong with that system , u got a ticket which was like a peice of memorabilia. plus with this fuckin smart rider looking shit u cant technically buy more than 1 ticket, plus its a asshole to order it online coz they wont mail u the tickets. but we’ll see how it all goes.

  25. avesta says:

NOOOOO , THIS FUKIN SUKS HOW ITS OVER 18 HOPEFULLY THEY WILL CHANGE IT LIKE BLACK CRUSADE

  26. Julian says:

i hope they start with master of puppets

  27. Dunc says:

    hahahaha to julian =)

  28. MAC says:

    fuck megadeath… Static-X baby!

  29. JT says:

Ahh Faggot, If they move us to the pavillion, im going to get so drunk that i piss and vommit on everything… it will reak so bad of my radioactive piss chunder. dont make me do it Daves promoters!

  30. Matt says:

I dont know why this has not been sold out and moved to an all ages event. Very dissapointed. Looks like i will have to wait a long time before i see Megadeth, if they ever come back to Australia. Is it just me or is basically every single show on the United Abominations tour all ages apart from Perth and very few other places. At least I have Iron Maiden to look forward to.

  31. JT says:

Matt, If you truley want to go to megadeth there are several all ages shows accross australia. I went and saw megadeth in brisbane in 06, awsome show and trip, start saving. It would be worth it. Altenativly get yourself a fake ID, could be a cheaper alternative.
