My weekly summary with the highlights of what’s on in Perth, Western Australia, this week; Tuesday 6 to Sunday 11 March 2007.

Festivals etc

Sculptures By the Sea at Cottesloe Beach from 8 to 18 March 2007

It’s WA Bike Week from 9 to 18 March 2007. On Friday 9 March the Bike to Work Breakfast is held in the Supreme Court Gardens from 6am to 8.30am, enjoy a free healthy breakfast. There are also breakfasts in Belmont and Gosnells the same morning, and many other events during the week.

Perth Chilli Festival at Araluen in Roleystone on 10 and 11 March 2007

Performing Arts:

The Little Britain Live Show is on from 3 to 9 March 2007 at Challenge Stadium (some of the days are sold out).

Henry V opens at UWA’s iconic New Fortune Theatre on 9 March and is on till 24 March.

Danny Bhoy at His Majesty’s Theatre – 9 + 10 March 07

Ballet at the Quarry (City Beach) – 14 February to 9 March 2007.

Circus Joseph Ashton – Midland from 23 February to 18 March 2007

Tripod – The Big Zoo-Hah-Hah at Perth Zoo on 10 March 2007

Under Milk Wood, a classic play by Dyland Thomas, is performed at the Regal Theatre in Subiaco from Friday 2 to Saturday 10 March 2007.

Zack Woods: Elevator, presented by Weeping Spoon Productions at the Lux Amphitheatre in Mt Lawley from 6 to 10 March 2007

The Impact World Tour comes to Perth with shows all over the metro area in March, and all free (it’s sponsored by local businesses, individuals and churches), sharing a positive message of hope and destiny.

Tony Pantano performs for a dinner and dance show at the WA Italian Club on Saturday.

Sabroson perform a twilight concert at Upper Reach Winery on Saturday evening

The City of Cockburn presents the Grand Finale of their Summer of Fun concert series with The Oz Rock Show featuring Glenn Shorrock, Joe Camilerri and Vika & Linda Bull on Saturday evening.

The Gozzy Rock Final (all ages band comp) is held at Tom Bateman Reserve Baseball Stadium in Thornlie on Sunday from midday. The the poster at this link for the line-up of other bands including Miles Away and Mindsnare.

Mo Wilson and the Drivers perform for the Town of Vincent summer concert in Braithwaite Park on Sunday from 4.30pm.

Free music every Sunday: Freo Arts Centre courtyard music, and Sunset@Subi in Subiaco.

Other:

The luxuious Silver Cloud Cruise Ship is at Fremantle Passenger Terminal on Tuesday and Wednesday. I’m not sure if you can go onboard for a tour.

International Women’s Day is celebrated on Thursday 8 March 2007. There many events planned, one of which will be part of the Village Art Markets in Fremantle from 11am at King’s Square and the Town Hall.

Perth Caravan & Camping Show – Belmont Park Racecourse – Thursday to Monday 12 March 2007

The Carine Community Fair, organised by the Rotary Club of Hillarys is held on Sunday 11 March at Carine Open Space.

Motor Madness is a great free family event held at Oldham Park in Yanchep on Sunday organised by the City of Wanneroo.

The Fremantle Village Art Markets are held from 10am to 5.30pm every Thursday until the end of April.

Joondalup Sunset Markets are held from 6pm on Friday. From 7pm there is free music on Reid Promenade.

The Mandjar Markets are held at the Waterfront in Mandurah every Sunday from 1 to 5pm until the end of April.

Cruise ship MS Europa visits Fremantle on Sunday 11 and Monday 12 March 2007.
