  3. Melody says:

    Hey,

Great site but we are looking for a river cruise on the Swan for New years eve. Does anyone know of any details on one!

    Ta,
    Mel

  4. Simone says:

    Hi Melody,

I’ve had a look around, and they all seem to not be operating on new years eve (or christmas day, or australia day).

Captain cook doesn’t say on their website, so might have to try calling them:

One that I found that it looked like you could book it was for in the morning…

Good luck, let me know if you end up finding something!

    Hi

Just wondering if you know of anything happening at Hillary’s Boat Harbour? I’ve tried to do a search, but can’t locate anything, and don’t know who to call direct.

Looking for something for the kids that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg (the Perth Zoo event is a tad expensive)

    Thanks

Haven’t heard of anything, and can’t see anything on the Sorrento Quay website…
    http://www.sorrentoquayboardwalk.com/

To be honest, I don’t think there’s many events to choose from for families… New Years Eve doesn’t seem much of a big deal in Perth, there’s way more happening on Australia Day…!

I’ve even looked on all the council websites, most event begin again after the first week in January.

Mmm, I think they don’t organise much in the two weeks of christmas and new years because so many people are on holidays…

  7. jono says:

Didnt there used to be something big in the streets of Freo? Wish that was on again.

    cheers,
    great site.

  8. Simone says:

Yes, that’s what my friend keeps saying as well!
    Can’t find anything about that!

I’ve actually never celebrated New Year’s Eve in Perth out and about. Last year we had a party at our house, and the year before we were in Bunbury. It was quite busy on the streets there, but you couldn’t tell when it was midnight. A bit of a let down that one, after living in The Netherlands where it’s quite a big deal, and everyone has fireworks and congratulates each other, and there’s big hoo haa’s on tv.

  9. jono says:

lol, everything is bigger and better in the Netherlands and all of Europe. People in Australia, especially in Perth, just cant be bothered i reckon.

  10. Simone says:

    No no, certainly not everything!

New year’s is different here, especially because you can’t light fireworks(fire danger, and just injury danger I guess!), and because so many people are on their holidays. In The Netherlands most people only have a week or a few days off.

I can see that people in Perth want to do stuff for nye… They’re all googling it, and ending up on my blog! So the demand is there I reckon!

  11. simone oreilly says:

Mandurah foreshore is always a good event for families on new years eve. Check out http://www.mandurah.wa.gov.au

  12. Adelle says:

Thanks for the list…im racking my brain for idea’s, i have 6 friends wanting to do something for NYE, i have only been in Perth 6mths so i have no idea where to go…and EVERY SINGLE NYE apart from one has been BAD for me lol
SO any other idea’s would be great…
One couple is reserved and not huge drinkers, the other couple are the total opposite and me and my hubby are in betweenys LOL
    Thanks ;)
    Del

  13. Simone says:

    Hi Adelle,

To be honest, I can’t actually reccomend anything, as I haven’t been ‘out on the town’ in Perth for new years before myself!
Sounds like a pub/tavern would do. Most of them have some form of entertainment, and no entry fee (so not the ones listed above).
Uhhmm, what sort of music are you into?

  14. Mel says:

Hi Yall! Anyone got a spare Pendulum ticket they want to sell me?

  15. JNAM says:

    Hi,
This is great – but I am just wondering if there are any venues around Perth, Subi, or Freo that are doing any all you can drink functions where they provide all the drinks from a certain period of time for a certain amount of money?? Does anyone know of anything – The Luxe bar used to but not this year they advised. Any assistance would be great?! Thanks,
    JNAM

  16. Claire says:

I was wondering if anyone knew if anything is going on in Kings Park for New Years Eve?

  17. Mike says:

    Glouster Park fireworks tonight 2330hrs

  18. Mike says:

    Gloucester sorry

  19. Hayley says:

hey all. I was just wondering if anyone new one any underage events on for NYE? me and 4 friends STILL dont know what we are doing, and i would love some ideas.
    thanks, hayley.

  20. Edmee says:

The Floraat Tavern is holding a “Spys [sic] And Concubines Ball” with games, prizes, classic cocktails, and more.

  21. Edmee says:

Oops.. I meant the Floreat Tavern.

  22. Simone says:

    Hi guys,

Sorry, been on holiday! (still am a bit), though I don’t think I would’ve been able to help anyway…!

Hope everyone ended up having a great night and got home safely?!
We went to the Norfolk in Freo where the Kill Devil Hills, Double Entendre and others were playing, was a great night!
