Southbound 2008 – first acts announced!!

Oh My Goodness! The Southbound line up has been announced, and I’m quite impressed!!
Wolfmother, Modest Mouse, John Butler Trio, Eskimo Joe, Michael Franti & Spearhead, UK sensations The Bees, Kiwi hip hop king Scribe, Youth Group, The Sleepy Jackson, Matt Costa (USA), Jamie Lidell (UK), You Am I, Saul Williams (USA), Little Birdy, The Black Seeds (NZ), The Exploders, The Audreys, Blue King Brown, Josh Pyke, The Presets and Infusion.
And there will be more acts announced in October!
The Southbound festival in Busselton will be held on 6 January 2007, and is a weekend of music, camping and arts, often described as a ‘european’ style festival (though the main acts still all play over one day). 2007 will be the third year for this annual festival.
This year you can camp on two nights, Friday 5 and Saturday 6 January 06. There will be acoustic performances on the Friday night, and busses going into Busselton on Friday night and Saturday morning. These tickets are $139 if you book an e-ticket through the website. Camping is only for over 18’s.
You can also buy a ticket just for the Saturday. These are $89 if you book through the website.
Tickets can also be bought through Ticketek, and various retail outlets but will incur a booking fee.

Is southbound just a ripoff of falls festival in Vic and Tas? The artists are exactly the same.
It could very well be. I haven’t payed attention, because I wouldn’t be going over to Vic or Tas anyway!
Or maybe it’s just the Western Australian name for the concert.

Hell yeah, southbund is kick-arse and me and everyone is hell going!!!!! They have the best line up ever! WOOHOOO watch out southbound here we come!!
I went to the festival last year – it was awesome! Worth staying over – as long as you don’t mind not showering, smelly toilets, etc, and that it’ll be a bit noisy (although everyone was pretty well-behaved.. just pick your camping spot carefully – ie, away from food vans, games area, etc). The accommodation is cheaper there than anywhere else.
Just saw Michael Franti in concert – he was BRILLIANT!
um so like if camping is for only over 18s… wat if im 18 that year.. and my brother is like 26? and all his mates are over 18… how do they like check..? cus im supposed to b goin wiv my bro ???? and he is camping.. :S?

ive neva been to southbound before i really wanna im 12 n my parents r considering lettin me go with emily n her olda sis i love mosta the bands going but my ma keeps buggun me if its safe

Does anyone know that if you buy a ticket from a normal shop, and are under 18 if you need photo ID at the concert?? Coz i kinda don’t have any :S

I don’t think you’ll need ID for the concert, as it’s an all ages event.
It’s just the camping that’s 18 (and the lincensed areas)
You might want to check when you buy your ticket though, just in case!

hay um i live in busso and i cant wait till i go ay it is gonna be so good and its a hell good lineup i just went and saw underoath they where so good lol i love them there sik sorry had 2 say that and my chemical romance there kick ass
I’ve seen the lineup for the bands… how many stages do they have?
Do they have any dance tents/stages?
Possibly heading there with my brother, who’ll love the bands but its not really my sort of thing, so was hoping for some dance music of some sort.. but couldn’t see anythin on the website?

I’m not sure… there’s a few dj’s playing, and Basement Jaxx of course, but I don’t know if they’ll be on a different stage, or just playing along with/after the normal line-up.
I do think there’s more than one stage though.
On the photo above you can see there’s a main stage, and then a tent, and maybe even a seperate tent.
I’ve been to the West Coast Blues & Roots, which is also organised by Sunset Events, and that also had main stage, a tent and a 3rd stage.
To be honest, I don’t expect there to be a seperate stage for dj’s/dance acts, it’s just not that kind of festival….

Does anyone know of anyone who is trying to sell tickets/unable to make the concert? I just missed out and am desperate! 2 tickets would be preferable but I would be extremely grateful just for 1.
