Mojo’s Bar

2006_06_22_1351.jpg

Once again when went to Mojo’s in North Fremantle to see our friends Ramble and the Sleepers play. They were supporting Simon London & the Spirits, who we were very impressed with (a lot more rock and less roots than we expected)! Simon London & the Spirits were headed off for a national tour, and will be back playing in Perth at the Newport Hotel on 30 July 06.

At the start of the evening ‘Empty State’ played, they are a very young Perth band who I think we will be seeing more of.

Crimson were going to finish the night off with an acoustic set, but we didn’t stick around for that, we’d had enough action for a weeknight! :D

2006_06_22_1348.jpgMojo’s are open 7 days a week, and there is live music most nights.

In July there will be stand up comedy on 3 Tuesdays (the 4th, 11th and 25th), and as part of the Perth International Film Festival Revelation, there will be S.P.L.I.F. on July 18: Screening Perth’s Local Independent Films, combined with live music by The Ben Gray Band.

just happened across your blog while looking for some ramble and the sleepers stuff and couldn’t resist saying hi! glad you liked the show, and yes you’re right, confessions are in order – we obviously felt a lot more rock than roots that night! come say hi next time and if you feel like have a chat with my dutch partner!
    thanks for your support,

    Hi Simon!

Good to see you here, ha ha(I’m still a bit new to this blogging thing, so think it’s great when people find my posts and comment!).

I think I had the idea you were going to be more Blues and Roots because of the name, the look of the website, and that you were playing with the Ramble guys. I hadn’t actually listened to any of your music yet! :D But we love rock and roots (I love Tool and Pearl Jam, but I love Xavier Rudd and Jack Johnson too :D ), so it’s all good. I’ll listen to some of your other stuff now, see if it’s different.
Mmm, I’ve just realised we can’t come to the Norfolk on the 30th, because we’ll be down south!(Pascal’s brother from Holland with his girlfriend are visiting for 3 weeks, and we do want to go to some gigs with them, but will be down south for at least 10 days).
Hope you had a good gig at The Cidery. I’m from Bridgetown(I went to school with Joel), my parents are moving back there in August. Hey, you guys should play at the Blues in November!!

Right, enough blabbing, lunch break over!

    seeya,

    Simone
