Events this weekend – 30 June, 1/2 July 06

The Amazing Human Body Display is still on at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre until 16 July.

Friday night is the opening night of Resurrection at the Hip-E Club in Leederville. Lots of alternative rock music. It will be on every Friday night in July, and if it’s a success it will continue.

More music, but of a different kind, Mundaring Performing Arts Society have their monthly concert at Mundaring Weir Hotel (I know, I’m stretching Perth’s borders a bit…)

For more gigs throughout the weekend, check out the right sidebar (down a bit).

Saturday is Pink Lady Day at Belmont Race Course, but the Luncheon is fully booked, and to be honest, I don’t know what else the day entails…

From Sunday to Wednesday there’s a beautiful display of flowers at the Perth Town Hall, as Perth’s Interflora designers compete in State Championships, from 10am. Also a special display at Forrest Chase.
Sunday also sees the start of the NAIDOC Week Celebrations in Fremantle (National Aboriginal Islander Day of Celebration). There will be all sorts of things happening at the Fremantle Town Hall from 11am, including a smoking ceremony, guest speakers and dancing.

A special mention for the RTR Jazz on a Winter’s Night Fundraiser on Monday night at the Hyde Park Hotel. Get there very early if you want to be able to get in.

Also, the Perth City Winter Arts Festival is now in full swing, see the full program at the website. I still need to go and see that Bunyip Exhibition at the State Library….

But first, on Friday night we are going to an exhibition opening at Spectrum Project Space in Northbridge (for ECU arts students). This exhibition will be open to the public Wednesday to Saturday, from 2pm till 6pm, 1 July – 22 July.

Thanks for all this Simone, great info! I wonder if I dare go to that Amazing Human Body thing. Not sure if it would give me nightmares (what a wuss, I know!)…

Oh, and I think Mundaring still counts as Perth :)
