Footy at Subi Oval

Saturday, May 13th, 2006

2006 05 13 1009This evening we went to our first Aussie rules football game, between the West Coast Eagles and the Collingwood Magpies. A friend’s family have membership, and not all of them were going!
So at 5.30pm we were at Subiaco Oval, and had seats in Row 3!

It was an exciting game (and both teams are at the top of the ladder) but the Eagles won with 14 points. There were 42,000 people present, it was sold out.

It was a great experience (good atmosphere), and the first time we’ve been in Subiaco Oval.

Less fun was getting away. First walk to our car, which we’d parked on an empty lot in West Leederville, and then about 20 minutes in a traffic jam to get out of the suburb! But that’s what you can expect with so many people, in the middle of residential suburbs! Though a lot of people also took trains and busses. 42,000 people is just a lot!

Pubs in Perth

Tuesday, May 9th, 2006

I came across this list of all pubs in Perth.

It has 210 on there so far.

I don’t think the ‘quiz’ part is working though, because it said I visited 0% even though I ticked about 30 boxes.

How many have you been to?

Arirang Korean BBQ

Modum menu, ArirangLast night we had dinner at Arirang Korean BBQ Restaurant in Subiaco (there’s also one in Perth). This was to celebrate our 8 years together.

We chose the ‘modum set menu’, which got us a plate of various marinated meats to bbq ourselves on the bbq in the middle of our table, and a couple of side dishes. We had to put the meat, some rice, and some of the side dishes in lettuce leaves, and eat it as a little package. Very nice, though a bit messy!

It was good to finally try ‘Kimchi‘, which I’ve read about quite often on David’s website, www.staypuff.net. It is a very important dish in South Korea, they even have a museum about it!
