Walking in the Perth Hills

This morning we drove to Kalamunda and walked in Jorgensen and Kalamunda National Park (next to each other), over the Bibbulmun Track.

The nearly 1000km long Bibbulmun Track goes from Albany to Kalamunda and passes through Walpole, Windy Harbour, Balingup and Lane Pool Reserve/Dwellingup.

One day we will walk the whole thing…..

Today we only walked one and a half hours, but it was very steep, and still quite warm in the sun! Still, the way back up the hill wasn’t as bad as I expected, ha ha.

Found a great website this afternoon (a bit late) for walking around the Perth Hills and the Swan Valley: http://www.perthtrails.com.au/.

The Perth Trails website (www.perthtrails.com.au) is based on a book produced by the Councils in the area – The Swan Valley and Perth Hills Trails Discovery Guide. It is a great guide with detailed maps and trail notes for walking in the Swan Valley and Perth Hills.

    The book only costs $12.95.

Another site that may be of interest to keen walkers is my non-commercial site “Bushwalks in the Perth region, Western Australia” (www.walkgps.com). It provides maps and details of 50 one-day walks in the region, ranging from easy on-track walks to more challenging partly off-track walks in the Darling Range.
