Hey kids!
Look up there! Is it a bird? Is it a pl… wait, yeah its a bird.
Urrrgh! What a crazy weekend this is going to be. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to blog about – there are just too many events on to choose from! So, instead of rational decision making, I’l just going to pull three random things out of a hat and give a brief summary as to why you should go see them.
Firstly – Scitech after dark – the science of food! This will be science for adults. Sexy, intoxicated science. Science that you tune into SBS late at night hoping to catch. Awesome science. How can you not love sexy food science? Secondly – The Screaming Jets at the Civic. Are you Australian? Have you been to Australia? Do you know what Australia is? If you answered yes to at least one of those questions, it is your civic duty to see the Jets live. If not, you may be shot by some guy named Greame. Finally – Tokyo Shock Boys at the Regal Theatre. Two words for you. Explosives and genitals. I have absolutely no idea if those words are relevant to the Shock Boys but there is an extremely high possibility that they are. Go see them and report back to me.
In other news, we know the site is called EnjoyPerth! but this Saturday half of the EP! crew are heading down to the MASS Music Festival in Margaret River in Margaret River to catch a bunch of bands playin music in a musical style consisting of rhythm and beat. Our photo monkey will be there so feel free to pose for him if you’re there and you might find yourself featured in an EP! photo album! This time however, I won’t be personally shooting so no need to make faces at me when I walk past. If you do, I will throw a traffic cone at you. You really should come join us. Tickets are cheap and you get the chance to se me throw traffic cones at random idiots.
In case you didn’t notice, we’re giving away tickets to Lisa Mitchell. All you need is a Facebook, a computer, a Internet, a finger, a friends, a electricity and a bag of bricks to throw at me for my poor grammar skills. Head on over to this linky-dink and you’ll find out how to put all those things to good use and possibly win a double pass. As of the time I wrote this blog, NOBODY has entered the competition correctly, so you have a high chance of winning.
Jamie (EnjoyPerth! mouse assembler, firework saboteur and meteorologist) has informed me that the weather is going to be “awesome sweet” this weekend. I assume that means its going to rain candy and chocolates. Since I’ll be out of town, can someone please catch a bucket or two of this sweet magical sky treat and send it over to the EP! offices pronto. Ta!
Whatever you do this weekend, we hope you go out and Enjoy Perth!
- love, hugs and kisses, your EnjoyPerth! pal grum.

March 18th, 2010

Having spent the last few months promoting her album in Europe, Lisa is returning to Australia in April to kick off her massive Oh Hark! National Theatre Tour. After personally seeing her live on stage a bucketload of times and meeting her in person (yes, its very hard to not want to take out a spoon and eat her up – she is incredibly sweet) I jumped at the chance to grab myself a ticket to her upcoming gig and I recommend you go out and get a ticket for yourself! (Well, firstly don’t do what I did – wait till 19 March to get those tickets as thats when they go on sale.)
Thanks to the incredibly attractive people at Posse, EnjoyPerth! has a DOUBLE PASS to give away to her show at the Astor Theatre, Mount Lawley, on Sunday May 16.
Posse? Who are these Posse people you speak of I hear you say? Posse is new website that enables you promote music events online and get rewarded for your effort with cold hard cash and other incentives – can anyone say AAA backstage passes? Posse can.
How to win a double pass?
Easy! We’d like you to help us promote EnjoyPerth! on Facebook. Simply do the following:
1. Head on over to http://facebook.com/enjoyperth.
2. Become a fan
3. Write “I want to win Lisa Mitchell tickets!” on the wall
4. Tell five of your facebook friends to “Like” your post.
5. Sit back, relax and visit lisamitchell.com.au to check out her “Oh! Hark!” new video clip
6. Make sure you’re over the age of 18 as this is an 18+ event. Well, you certainly can enter the comp but the bouncer at the front door won’t let you in kiddo.
7. Wonder to yourself “gee, what if I don’t win tickets to the show – I really want to go”.
8. Head on over to Moshtix and buy tickets anyway. If you DO win, you can give them to your neighbours in exchange for a month worth of taking the bin out for you.
You have until 5 April 2010 to enter! So get to it!
- love, hugs and kisses, your EnjoyPerth! pal grum.

The fun small print:
Winners wil be contacted via Facebook. EnjoyPerth! reserves the rights to change the terms and conditions to this competition, however we aren’t likely to unless something happens that annoys us/suggests someone is cheating/the promoters start waving a big stick at us for annoying them. Prizes cannot be transferred and cannot be redeemed for cash. Incomplete entries (as deemed by EnjoyPerth!) will be deemed invalid. Entry is open to Australian residents only. However, employees and their immediate families of EnjoyPerth!, their agencies and companies associated with this competition are not eligible to enter. Yes, that means Jamie (resident EnjoyPerth! cameraman, garlic bread butterer and meteorologist) can’t enter. If you’re confused about anything, eMail grum@enjoyperth.com.au and harass him. EnjoyPerth! reserves the right to request winners to provide proof of identity, proof of residency at the nominated address and/or proof of entry validity in order to claim a prize. Proof of identification, residency and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of EnjoyPerth!.

Following on from their groundbreaking 1999 debut full-length, Calculating Infinity and the near-perfect pileup of craft and chaos on 2007s “Ire Works”, The Dillinger Escape Plan have unveiled their latest masterpiece, Option Paralysis.
Blurring the fine line between swampy Southern rock and metal, Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster will be joining this brutal double bill.

Holey moley moo its the middle of March already?
Give it a few more weeks and it’s Easter. Add a few more weeks on top of that and it’ll be the middle of May! I have no idea why that timeframe is relevant but I thought I might mention it for the people who are having birthdays in the middle of May. Like OMG you guysss, that’s totally random? Yeahno? (that was my weekly attempt at sounding like a cool 17 year old. Did I pass?).
This week is jam-packed with crazy events. I’m fairly sure Perth can retire the label of being boring. No really, just look at tonight’s highlights: Dinosaur Jr at the Rosemount (which I’ll be there – feel free to throw beer coasters at me if you see me), Massive Attack at King’s Park (wish I was there too. Can anyone here clone me?), The Power! Album Show at Villa (why didn’t I get tickets to this? Hello? Ticket fairy? Gimmie).
If you’re like me you might find life a lot easier to live, by covering your left leg in polyunsaturated margarine. If you’re not like me, you’ll probably want to go see Tom Jones – A Day on the Green on Sunday. OK, I lie. I totally love Tom Jones. Its so hot that he’s finally accepted the fact that he’s a million years old and stopped dying his hair. Nothing hotter than a man who accepts his inevitable death. Well, aside from a polyunsaturated left leg that is. On the topic of delicious things, have you participated in any of the Eat Drink Perth events? Do it. Its very tasty.
Jamie (resident EnjoyPerth! aircon installer, knee-capper and meteorologist) informs us that Saturday will be really really really hot. Which will be great for those Puppetry of the Penis guys, cos nobody wants cold performers. Sunday will be quite pleasant with a slight chance of rain. The rest of the week will cool down, bringing all us Sandgropers perfect weather to invite their favourite EnjoyPerth! editors over for a BBQ and a slab of delicious cider. HINT HINT.
Whatever you do this weekend, we hope you go out and Enjoy Perth!
- love, hugs and kisses, your EnjoyPerth! pal grum.
