G'day Perth, how you doing?
I'm typing this post from the future. Cool eh? Currently the time is 2PM here in the eastern states but it is only 12PM for you over there in WA. That means that I could watch the Lotto and give you ALL the winning numbers. Thats how much of a nice guy I am... I think? Thats how time travel works, right? Anyhoo, I can report from the future that the world's scientists have yet to discover the cure to the strange strain of public transport driver flu that is spreading throughout Perth but as soon we find one, the powers that be will travel to every pub and RSL in the state to find these sick bus, train and ferry drivers and cure them forever. Scientists from the future are very smart, I promise you they'll sort this crisis soon.
We here at EnjoyPerth! love giving away stuff. How does a hundred bucks worth of pampering sound like to you? Well the kids over there at Guys Grooming are giving away a $
99 Fathers Day package to two lucky EnjoyPerth! readers! All the juicy information can be found on the
competition page!
The Trio known as
John Butler Trio have spent the past few months on a gruelling schedule to release their new ‘APRIL UPRISING’ album simultaneously in eleven markets around the world. They've decided to come home for a while and play under the big top at the
Freo Arts Centre. So why not join them and get your root on. When you've done that, can you get back to me and explain what 'roots' is. I really don't get it.
Personally I've always been a fan of bands with names that are places. Groups such a Phoenix, Kansas and of Montreal not only bring magical ear pleasures but also have the ability to take your mind to far away magical places. One such band by the name of
Washington takes my mind to a wondrous land of statues, zany Republicans and that big pond thing that Forrest Gump ran through to be reunited with his love Jenny.
Washington also happens to be the name of a band who will be at the Fly by Night this weekend.
Hey, just a reminder that the RTRFM
Radiothon is wrapping up with the super awesome
RTRFM Radiothon Closing Party happening. So subscribe, head on over to the Rosie and rock the night away with Perth's best local talent.
Jamie (resident EnjoyPerth! marine biologist, traffic warden and meteorologist) has stuck his finger out the window and is happy to report that this weekend will be fine with a couple of clouds that may threaten some rain towards Sunday arvo. The nights are going to be a tiny bit warmer compared to the past few days however don't whip out the budgie smugglers quite yet.
Whatever you do this weekend, we hope you go out and Enjoy Perth!
- love, hugs and kisses, your EnjoyPerth! pal
grum.

The Live at the Quarry 2010/2011 season has been announced:
Lisa Mitchell - 10 November
Lior - 17 November
John Williamson - 30 November
Clare Bowditch & The New Slang - 8 December
James Reyne and Mark Seymour - 27, 28 and 29 January 2011

Good afternoon!
I'm glad that you've taken the time to allocate your eyeball resources to the people here at EnjoyPerth! We are very appreciative and are quite thankful for this, given your participation in the reading process helps us to pay our bills. Bills such as electricity, internet connection charges, government bribery cash - y'know, the usual.
Crazy changes are a-happening here at EP over the next few days, with the Bayswater offices closing its doors and relocating to the other side of the country. We feel that the best way to properly understand the vast diversity that Perth has to offer is to leave the state and relocate to Sydney. Don't worry, EP will still have its fair share of West Aussies, with the boss expected back from her whirlwind tour of Czechoslovakia (yes, she owns a time machine) and we also have
Jamie (resident EnjoyPerth! telemarketer, prawn cracker fryer and meteorologist) who will step into the role of chief blog post writer every so often, once we drag him out of the back alley and beat him for a while with a french stick.
Our good friends at
RTRFM are doing their annual Radiothon right now with the absomassively huge
launch party happening Saturday night at the Astor. Personal favourites of mine Voltaire Twins and the super sexy Boys Boys Boys will be performing on stage alongside a dozen other aupercalifragilisticexpialiawesome Perth acts. If you love Perth, you should be supporting RTRFM by
subscribing every single year. Plus if you subscribe during Radiothon 2010, you'll get the chance to win flights to other countries, entertainment packages, concert tickets, books, CDs, hot air balloon rides and bucketloads more.
If you feel like chillin' out this weekend, our friends at the Northbridge Piazza are screening
Picnic at Hanging Rock on the big screen for everyone to enjoy. For more relaxy stuff, check out
Darren Hanlon at the Fly by Night and for even more extreme relaxation, you can head over to Morley for some
Live Pro Wrestling. I can't think of anything more relaxing than to watch two sweaty men beat each other up in a ring surrounded by hundreds of fans screaming for blood.
On a side note, don't forget to vote if you're eligible to and remember to put some thought into it this time. Your vote WILL make a difference this time, now more than ever. Don't waste your vote, don't vote for a party because someone else told you to vote for them and don't drink milk past it's expiry date. Especially when its lumpy and green. That last tip is an important one. I learnt that the hard way.
Jamie (resident EnjoyPerth! sock pre-warmer, bicycle juggler and meteorologist) tells me that the week will be partly cloudy and very cold, with 3 degree nights expected midweek. To keep warm, Jamie recommends rubbing two 1960s style toasters together whilst soaking in a nice hot bath of matured goats milk. You absolutely positively must use these items otherwise a slight chance of dead may occur.
Whatever you do this weekend, we hope you go out and Enjoy Perth!

Hi guys,
Jamie here again.
It seems
grum has completely forgotten about you lot again so I decided to jump on the computing typewriter machine and whip up this weekly blog post. Geez that boy is slack. Just because it's his birthday and all. You all should jump onto
Twitter right now and tell him that he is a super jerkface with jerk-like qualities for forgetting to do the EnjoyPerth! newsletter this week. I'm sure he'll tell you it was all due to a stupid error with the web server or something technical, but I'm telling you what really happened. I wouldn't lie to you, would I?
This week has been jam packed full of super duper awesome announcements. Did someone say music festivals? Well there are a buckletload of them around the corner - check out the
previous post for all the juicy details. On the topic of bucket loads, the crew over there in Burswood would have needed a quite a few bucket loads of water to create the marvel that is known as
Swan Lake On Ice. No to be confused with the Channel Seven docco that will be airing soon - I believe that is about an ex footy player on a different form of ice.
Our pal
Courtney Murphy will be playing at the
Ellington tonight and I believe he will be performing some sort of musical number. Courtney has had a busy year with the impending launch of his debut solo album "Big", which is a tribute album to a wonderful film starring Tom Hanks. Well, that's what some guy told me - and by some guy, I mean the voice in my head with a Mexican accent.
According to me (resident EnjoyPerth! water pourer, beat boxer, apple corer and meteorologist), Perth will be getting cold nights as usual and partially cloudy (and possibly wet) days throughout the week. The weather gods seem to like us at the end of the week as sunny skies are expected, except for the times when the sun decides to stop shining on the earth.
Whatever you do this weekend, we hope you go out and Enjoy Perth!
- love, hugs and kisses, your EnjoyPerth! pal
Jamie.
