Worlds Festival Fremantle 2011

This event has passed!

Perth is set for 16 days of festival excitement in December 2011 with the creation of the Worlds Festival in Fremantle

Curated by North Street Productions, the Worlds Festival will coincide with the biggest international sailing event of the year, the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships.

There will be more than 250 free events in the Worlds Festival, which is being built on a theme of “where land meets the sea” and will be a memorable celebration of West Australian and Australian culture, including a celebration of the sport of sailing.

The Perth-based North Street Productions is planning a diverse programme that will include the best of local Perth, West Australian and international artists, contributors and activities.

Much of the excitement of the Worlds Festival will be centred around the Worlds Village on the Esplanade Park in Fremantle, where there will be a main stage, stalls showcasing sporting and lifestyle activities, the countries participating in the Sailing World Championships, the best of local food and other activities including a vibrant Kids Zone to keep some of the more “adventurous” enthusiasts entertained.

The Worlds Festival certainly isn’t limited to the Worlds Village however, with venues and companies throughout Fremantle including Little Creatures Brewery, Kidogo Arthouse, the Moores Building, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and Victoria Hall hosting a range of Worlds Festival exhibitions, productions and music. The programme being planned is certainly an exciting one and there will be plenty happening every day of the Worlds Festival.

There will be a seamless transition from the Fremantle Festival and the Worlds Festival in 2011, with the Fremantle Festival finishing on 4 December 2011. The Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships will take place from 3-18 December 2011.

INXS has just been announced as a ticketed opening concert, with Grinspoon as support! Details on the event page.
