White Folks like You and Me - Live Comedy

This event has passed!

Take three comedians from different backgrounds living in the same city, stir in three very different ways of seeing the world and spice it up with a devil-may-care attitude.

The result? A hilarious stand-up comedy show called White Folks Like You and Me on November 13 & 14.

Headlined by one of the rising stars on Australia’s comedy circuit, Xavier Susai is a living, breathing product of 21st century globalisation, out to prove that when it comes to unravelling the cultures of the world, the only truly universal language is laughter.

No ordinary comedian, the 26-year-old is an aviation graduate with a mathematics degree currently finishing his mechanical engineering and business degrees while working as an IT consultant.

Since taking up comedy in 2007, Xavier has established himself as a serious talent, becoming a national finalist in both the 2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s RAW Comedy and the 2007 Green Faces competitions.

His vocal talents – in mimicry, beatboxing, sound effects and accents – are astounding as he effortlessly takes audiences on journeys that span the globe. From the jungles of Girrawheen to the suburbs of Africa, via a karaoke stop at Tokyo’s Hello Kitty Bar, Xavier’s imaginative and soundscaped observational comedy delivers and White Folks Like You and Me is an opportunity to see his full repertoire of laughs.

No laughing matter though is that part proceeds from White Folks Like You and Me go to the Children’s Surgical Centre in Cambodia. The centre provides free rehabilitation surgery for disabled Cambodian children.

Joining Xavier at the Subiaco Arts Centre for this up-lifting two night stand is comedy veteran Werzel Montague. Described by The West Australian newspaper at “the king of Perth comedy”, he’s equal parts provocative and sensitive and rates Jesus of Nazareth as the best Jewish comedian of all time.

Rounding off the bill is the wonderful 19-year-old Joel Creasey, who in only a short time has gained a legion of loyal local fans in love with his edgy and bitching attitude. He’s appeared on Today Tonight and has made the RAW state finals two years running.
