Wardarnji Festival 2011 - Fremantle
The 2011 Aboriginal cultural festival is a celebration of indigenous culture and arts, in the beautiful grounds of Fremantle Arts Centre.
The Wardarnji Festival is a place for the Whadjuk Noongar community to connect and celebrate Aboriginal heritage and culture. Enjoy music, local visual arts, traditional and contemporary dance, food and storytelling in this free family event.
In the surrounds of The Fremantle Arts centre this Indigenous festival celebrates the Nyoongar culture with traditional dancing by Middar, Kwarbah Djookian, Wadumbah and Timmy Kelly & boys and contemporary performance by hip hop crew Urban Youth Effects. Music by Jake and the Cowboys, Warangka, Angela Rule, Jamahl Ryder, Della & Kobi, Ngarie Pigram, Kristel Kickett, Jonny Ford & the Balja Boys and Lee West. Tradional dance lessons for women & girls and men and boys.
Boomerang and Spear carving demonstrations and painting for children with a Aboriginal artist and giant water slide

Dreamtime story local to Fremantle told by Noel Nannup and traditional smoking/fire ceremony by Aunty Theresa and Trevor Walley.
