VR101 Forum

visor:immersive and NEXT GEN are pleased to announce the VR101 Forum and Short Filmmaking Course, supported through the Screenwest Screen Industry Skills Development Fund.

The VR101 Forum and Short Filmmaking Course will run from March - June 2019. Expressions of interest are open now on the visor:immersive website.

visor:immersive is a Perth-based company looking to embrace the sharp acceleration of virtual and augmented reality technology and combine this with the very best people and custom built facilities to deliver world class immersive experiences.

“visor:immersive and NEXT GEN are proud to be in partnership with Screenwest to explore virtual reality and 360 filmmaking,” said Ian Hale, Creative Director of visor:immersive.

“We are excited to give emerging filmmakers the opportunity to develop new skills and complement existing knowledge with 360 cameras, storytelling, planning and producing supported by experienced practitioners - all to happen here, at the Backlot Perth”.

Jasmine Leivers, Managing Director of NEXT GEN, added, “An important part of filmmaking is seeing audiences experience the work.

“That’s one of the reasons we are excited to present the two short VR 360 films in the inaugural NEXT GEN & visor:immersive VR Short Film Festival at Revelation Film Festival 2019.”

“Projects like The Antarctica Experience and Thalu: Dreamtime Is Now have given us a taste of what is possible with virtual reality and 360-degree filmmaking,” said Screenwest Interim CEO Willie Rowe.

“VR is making filmmaking more immersive and interactive than ever before - we’re excited to see even more VR projects come to life as a result of visor.immersive and NEXT GEN's hard work running these events."
