Throwing of the Grape: First Harvest Festival - Oakover Winery
25 buses. Grape Throwing. Grape Squashing. Wine Tasting. Live Bands. DJs.
So... what is 'Throwing of the Grape'?
Throwing of the Grape is a food, wine and music festival to celebrate the first wine harvest at Oakover Winery for 2011 and the Australia Day weekend - Summer in the Valley!!
You've heard of La Tomatina in Spain where the streets are filled with over-ripened tomatoes well this is the WA version (with grapes)!
We're talking wine tasting, grape stomping, live music, DJs and of course GRAPE THROWING!
All Grape Throwing will take place in a dedicated fenced-off area, so it's up to you if you'd like to join in the fun, you won't get grapes thrown on you if you don't want to! (But you have to admit, it does sounds like fun.)
Included in the ticket price is a gourmet lunch, served by the Chefs from Oakover's award winning restaurant. Help yourself to Beef Burgers, Chicken Burgers, BBQ Corn on the Cob, Vegetarian Bake, Potato Wedges, and a huge choice of salads. There will also be a 100% vegetarian stall serving up vege-lasagne, salads and other tasty treats. And to wash down these culinary delights, choose from great locally brewed beer, imported cider or any of Oakovers fantastic wines.
Please note that numbers are strictly limited so there are no queues or overcrowding! This event will sell out!
