The Reef Tour
Tura New Music in collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra will visit Perth as part of a tour of a must see production of Australia’s finest musicians and filmmakers – The Reef – at Perth Concert Hall, 7.30pm Wednesday 18 July 2012.
World-renowned Australian violinist and conductor, Richard Tognetti, along with members of the Australian Chamber Orchestra and ACO2 will present a powerful fusion of music and film inspired by the surf, sea and landscapes of the Ningaloo Coast.
This stellar cast will present a virtuosic program of classical and contemporary music in this exceptional concert. Expect soaring world-class orchestra, earthy didgeridoo and vocals, with evocative land and sea film projection, all combining to create a truly memorable event.
With music composed by, Iain Grandage, The Reef features, Mark Atkins (Didgeridoo), and Broome iconic songsmith Steve Pigram, alongside breathtaking film and imagery created by, Jon Frank (Surfing Cinematographer) and, Mick Sowry (Film Director), starring surfing legend, Derek Hynd.
Under the artistic direction of Tognetti, ACO has earned a reputation as one of the worlds leading chamber orchestras, and Tognetti’s love of surfing has been an inspiration for this tour program.
