Soaring harmonies, hot rhythms and luscious strings

A stand out hit during the City of Subiaco’s summer concert series, Sunday 21 August sees composers Jen de Ness and Bill Atkinson, bring you the uniquely entertaining de Ness jazz cabaret show top sunday@subi.

Each de Ness show is a musical genre-bending performance, incorporating original tango and Latin jazz, French gypsy, chilled out lounge and a splash of cabaret. The smooth, theatrical and velvety voice of Jen de Ness is supported by slick guitar from Bill Atkinson, virtuoso violin from Ashley Arbuckle, beautiful cello from Emma McCoy, cool bass from Manoli Vouyoucalos and dynamic percussion from Satish Krishnan.

An entertaining and uplifting experience for young and old alike, before you know it you’ll find yourself dancing, singing and grooving to the smooth sounds of this slick new band. Between them, these musicians have played at various jazz and music clubs and festivals throughout the world as well as in Bollywood and theatre productions. They have also released original CDs and produced jazz tracks for ABC Radio. Jen said we had a great show at Subiaco Arts Centre in January and were delighted to be playing for the Subi crowd again. “The theatre space provides an ideal setting for our intimate love songs and cabaret of colorful characters, and we look forward to some cozy joie de vivre at this winter serenade” Jen said. Whether they are playing at concerts to thousands of festival goers, or slick and sultry jazz cabaret in world class jazz and festival clubs, de Ness always delights with a show not to be missed.

Tickets are available on the day from 1.15pm, with concerts starting at 2pm and finishing at 3.30pm. Concerts include a short break where attendees can enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine from the Subiaco Arts Centre bar.

The sunday@subi series is a free community concert series that covers a mix of themes and genres suitable for all ages. The series runs every Sunday through to 3 October at the Subiaco Art Centre, 180 Hamersley Road, Subiaco.
