A new home grown musical hits the stage DownStairs at the Maj with Some Kind of Beautiful, a deeply moving, dark musical comedy from the creative team behind the sell out seasons of BadGirls? (2007) and Threeway (2008). Devastated when her older lover Paul passes away suddenly, Kate (Julia Jenkins) finds herself confronted by a not so “ex” wife Barbara (Helen Searle) and a teenage daughter Destiny (Maree Cole) who have inherited the home she lives in, leaving her with nowhere to turn. Some Kind of Beautiful explores our notions of how we as individuals can each have a very different idea of what “truth” is – and how friendship and love can sometimes come from the most unusual places if we open our heart enough to let it in.
