Soft Soft Loud 2010 - Wynton Marsalis’ A Fiddler’s Tale

This event has passed!

Throughout March, the sublime inner courtyard at Fremantle Arts Centre plays host to a series of open-air concerts for people who love music.

Soft Soft Loud is defined by its enthusiastic and unexpected collaborations. Musicians of the highest caliber create experiences that are genre-breaking, musically diverse and totally unprecedented.

Wynton Marsalis’ A Fiddler’s Tale Thursday 18 March
In A Fiddler’s Tale, Wynton Marsalis responds to Stravinsky’s famous A Soldier’s Tale by way of twentieth century music, including but not limited to jazz. The faustian morality tale is re-set in the Mississippi Delta where a young musician sells her soul – to the record company.

Ensemble SECESSION Thursday 25 March
In their debut performance, Ensemble SECESSION present a program that immerses one in a night of dreams and schemes. Whether it be Milhaud’s spiritual influences, the misadventure of Strauss’ merry prankster or the symphonic breadth of Spohr’s writing, an evening of fine music is assured in the hands of this new ensemble comprising many of Perth’s most distinguished musicians.
