PERTH ARTIST USES CHRONIC PAIN TO INSPIRE OTHERS

Dublin born, Perth Artist Cat Cronin is busy preparing for her solo exhibition, So Alive 365 – Flight From Pain, which will take over Kidogo Arthouse in Fremantle from 14th – 19th September. It will not only showcase her finest works but tell the story of her journey through chronic pain and how she obliterated and surpassed specialists expectations using art, mindfulness, movement, diet, and holistic therapies as her medicine.

So Alive 365 - Flight From Pain comprises of over 60 impressionistic emotive and energetic scenes from nature, figurative works and sketches that strike the balance between chaos and calm. The works are acrylic and watercolour on canvas and paper finessed with chalks charcoal and glazes.

The collection includes original works finally released for sale that have already sold print editions worldwide, new original works, open sketchbook pages, Facebook favourites and a collection of limited print editions for viewing and sale. Cronin’s work depicts her own journey – one which has not been easy. Cronin has been a full-time artist since leaving Art School in Ireland in 2006.

In January 2011 she was in a devastating car accident that changed her life when she was sideswiped by a negligent driver and left with severe disabling pain caused by spinal injuries. Cronin will conduct daily live painting during the exhibition at a pop-up studio and is also inviting people to join her for ‘Creative Energy Workshops’. Here she will take a practical fun, mindful and creative approach to improving Creative Skills, Creative Confidence and the ability to embrace and induce your own unique creative energy more easily and frequently.

Coming from a background in chronic pain management and using art as therapy - Cat brings an insightful and therapeutic approach to her workshops.
