Slidestreet Perth 2014
Slidestreet is Australia’s first and original 300 metre water slide that will pop up where you least expect it this Summer. More info coming soon!
Perth to host Australian premiere of Slidestreet, the 315m long water slide, this December.
Inspired by memories of our childhood, Slidestreet takes the very Australian backyard summer tradition of a few sheets of plastic, detergent and a hose to the next level. Slidestreet is a 315 metre pop up inflatable water slide, as long as two AFL ovals back to back and offers adrenalin-pumping slip-sliding fun.
Street sliding is the newest phenomenon taking the world by storm. Next month, thanks to the team behind Winterland, the iceskating extravaganza held in the Cultural Centre last July, the people of Perth will be the first in Australia to have a go.
Thanks to the recently approved sponsorship from Foundation Partner, City of Perth, Slidestreet will take over the western end of St Georges Terrace on Sunday 14th December*.
The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said
“Events such as this draw people into our city and provide an interesting and exciting experience for children and grown-ups as well. The company organising the event, Slidestreet Pty Ltd, is to be congratulated for showing such initiative.”
Slidestreet are pleased to welcome Nova 93.7 and Channel 9 who are proudly presenting the inaugural event.
“Nine Perth is delighted to join forces with Nova 93.7 giving the people of Perth the first chance to try the coolest world-wide craze, streetsliding. Slidestreet is about to hit Perth and will be ‘the’ event of the summer calendar,” said David Mott, Nine Perth Managing Director.
“This is massive for Perth! I suppose I’ll have to have a crack, ‘cos my kids are beside themselves excited to have a go! Who am I kidding, I can’t wait!” said Shaun McManus, Nova 93.7 Breakfast Host.
Slidestreet is a slide that’s more than a ride. The event will feature a pop up bar, food trucks, refreshing icy summer treats, DJs and much more to keep you entertained all day. You don’t have to slide to enjoy the fun – spectators are encouraged to head down and check out the action.
The event appears and vanishes within 24 hours, leaving only fond memories of a truly unique experience. On Sunday, you’ll be sliding down the street in your boardies, and come Monday, it’s back to peak hour and deadlines.
The event, inspired by street slides in the United Kingdom and United States, will be the first of its kind in Australia. It will also feature an aquatic pop-up bar, free inflatables and “slide selfies” photographs.
More than 11,000 people are expected to take the plunge, about 3000 spectators are expected and a water efficiency plan has been drawn up.
Tckets costing $15 for one slide and $25 for three slides.
