4-20 MARCH, 2016

Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe, the annual outdoor exhibition, will return to Perth's Cottesloe Beach from 4-20 March, 2016.

In its 12th year, the exhibition will feature works from over 75 artists from across the globe. International artists from as far as China, Peru, Czech Republic, Japan and the United States of America will feature alongside local sculptors.

Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe is one of Perth's largest free public events. The spectacular exhibition stretches along the white sands of Cottesloe Beach overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Four curators chose the sculptures to feature at Cottesloe this year:

  • Sasha Grishin - Emeritus Professor, The Australian University Canberra;
  • Michael Hill - Head of Art History and Theory, National Art School Sydney;
  • Nien Schwarz - Artist and Senior Lecturer, School of Communications and Arts, Edith Cowan University;
  • Bruce Slater - Head of School, School of Design and Art, Curtin University.

Over 40 Australian artists from the ACT (2), NSW (12), VIC (2) and WA (22) will present their work at the outdoor exhibition. The 2016 exhibition will feature a diverse array of pieces from well-known and newer artists including six artists from WA under the age of 35 alongside Sculpture by the Sea Decade Club members; Jennifer Cochrane, Ron Gomboc and Tim McFarlane Reid.

An estimate of 250,000 people will visit Cottesloe Beach during the 17-day exhibition to enjoy Sculpture by the Sea.
